Deja-vu all over again! : Thu Oct 31, 2019 5:00 pm
https://www.skysports.com/rugby-league/ ... approaches

Why am I not surprised about this?! Once again, Toronto Wolfpack appear to have pulled a fast one, and won't be subjected to any trans-Atlantic journeys for the first couple of months of the season. Let's see what the SL clubs think of that!

Last season they reneged on the promise to take games to Europe, because they remained in the Championship. This season there hasn't been enough time to arrange them!

They seem to talk a good story on most things.

Very true - which can be good marketing. However, broken promises are not good, especially when attempting to con SL clubs!

I don’t think SL have a say as such this coming season with Toronto. The deal on promotion/relegation obviously being set by the RFL. But as you say you don’t really want to be upsetting SL clubs with false statements.

First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can.

Ridiculous that they are still getting away with the “too cold in Canada” routine as an excuse for not playing early season games at home. They have now had three years to secure a temporary suitable home base for the first 4-6 weeks of the season.
Ah well, not our problem I guess but still frustrating that they continue to be given an obvious advantage

What a great opportunity to showcase the sport in your own city of Vancouver in Mar and Apr - what is it normally 8-12C. This would do wonders for the next Canadian club to spring up.

We certainly have the facilities both indoor and outdoor and the weather would be fine, but it is a 9 hour direct flight for UK clubs and 5 hours for Toronto so logistically not great for either. Promotionally though for RL to grow in Canada it would be great.

But it wouldn't be growing the game, it is not expansion, by means of getting more participants playing the game, it is simply taking the circus to town, I am all for growing the game by some structured means, please tell me what the intentions and mechanics are for the game in Canada?
