Adrian Lam : Tue May 31, 2022 4:17 pm
https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/ad ... lved-with/

I really like Lammy, he is so professional, always looks dapper and definitely says the right things. I was a little worried when he joined, because the Wigan team was dull as dishwater to watch under his stewardship. He has pulled the team together with Chessy and they play the most effective Rugby that I have seen at Leigh. The defence is mean, the forwards are awesome and there is some amazing talent in the back line.

Most of all Lammy seems to be enjoying himself, and it appears to be a real project, not just a side line until the World Cup as some people expected. I just hope I am right and he can get Leigh promoted and stay in Super League for more than a season.

This comes on top of interviews with Asiata and Ipape who both spoke of their Leigh experience in very positive terms. It makes me feel very proud to be part of this great club.

First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can.

I have always respected him as a coach and as a professional on the media side of the game also. He, Chester and Derek have shown great resolve and patience in building this squad, when many were critical of the size of the squad early on (which was fair but also not giving him/them time to get quality, and not just quantity and players past their best).
I felt he got a bad wrap at Wigan, as he was doing the best with what he had and what injuries served up as available. People also said he knew nothing about Championship rugby, but he has shown that he knows more than enough to put the right bodies in the shirts and get them performing in all areas.
This team has more to come yet and he is talking like, and doing things that, make me very hopeful that he will be around after the end of the season.
Quality human being and coach !

Re: Adrian Lam : Wed Jun 01, 2022 9:20 am
The problem at Wigan is the players are signed or re-signed by Radlinski and Lenagan. This means Lam had minimal input into most signings and long contracts had already been signed by the younger players.

Lam was unlucky Field got injured in the first game against us if you remember so we never saw him, take him out the current team and they are much weaker. Plus any team with Hastings in is very predictable to defend against. Lam played all the young lads in the middle last year because that’s all he had to go with, this year they are much more experienced and they have added some size to assist, also last year the pack was always too light and easily beaten.

I’m led to believe Peet is a great up and coming coach and Wigan probably needed the change but I don’t believe it was all down to Lam being a poor coach for them I believe he did well with the hand he was dealt. Lam is probably enjoying himself more because he has the freedom to make his own decisions which most coaches want.

Most of the time folk of Wigan would disagree with you……
And they would be wrong of course

Having started this thread praising Adrian Lam, it interesting to see that the Featherstone fans are not warming to their coach in quite the same way https://www.totalrl.com/forums/index.ph ... mcdermott/ .
