Sing a song of Yorkshire, from the Humber to the Tees
Of cricket, rugby, beer, of pudding and of cheese
I know no other county where the land is quite so fine
England's lovely county. And I'm proud to call it mine

Where shining purple heather stretches far across the moor
And the lapwing's cry above me takes the place of traffic roar
And peace comes drifting gently, there's no place I'd rather be
Than this land of hills and valleys, from the Pennines to the sea

So when I've done my roaming, and when my step grows slow
When heart and mind assure me that the time has come to go
Then let me rest in Yorkshire, for its there I want to lie
'Neath sun and wind and heather... and a gleaming Yorkshire sky

Noble joins the bandwagon! : Sat Mar 28, 2009 2:46 pm
http://www.skysports.com/rugbyleague/ma ... 91,00.html

"Every team that has played Huddersfield has struggled to go forward," Noble said.

"I thought we managed it reasonably well but you're never going to get a quick game against Huddersfield - and it's something that needs to be looked at"

"We were physically dominant for long periods of the game, and I can't remember them really making a break in the game"

"I don't think we had much help this evening in relation to how we wanted to play the game, and I think a couple of crucial decisions went against us"

If London is Athens, Yorkshire is Sparta, a tougher community and proud of it.

The mans job is hanging by a thread. They play boring garbage and are one trick ponies with overpaid Aussies overshadowing one of the best academies in the game.

He has so much to focus on with his own side, doesn't he. But it's easier to just come out with that crap than acknowledge the massive problems Wigan have with regards the first team right now.

Every coach that criticises their opposition simply forgets to acknowledge that his team uses exactly the same tactics as his reason for criticism. Sadly, for Nobby, the Giants would seem to be better at slowing the game down than Wigan. (A tactic he introduced at at Odsal to great effect, as well.) He knows his bum is on the block, and needs excuses to save it from a kicking.

so does he suggest that we allow teams to come forward at us instead of using good defence

We're meant to huff and puff valiantly but just come up short, get overwhelmed by the occasion of playing the once mighty Wigan and have our a4ses drop out resulting in turnstile defence and quick PTB's to them and a subsequent avalanche of points arriving at the feet of our "superior" opponents, ensuring glorious victory...

I have just spoken to Brian Noble and asked him to clarify his comments

' What I mean is that i am not a good enough coach to be able to adapt my team, squad and tactics to deal with different challenges.

it was much easier when i was at Bradford where we had world class players and we could steamroller the opposition. At least when i was at bradford i did not have to think too much about tactics. We just used to give it to big joe to trundle down the field and then pass it to big Les to go over in the corner. When te opposition got the ball we just tackled them and sat on them till they knew that we were bigger and tougher than them. Now i have to think different things for different games. it hurts my head.

Now i am at Wigan i am left with second rate aussies and some academy players. they might be good in time but i cannot be bothered putting energy into young players. I need results and i need them now.

Huddersfield seem to have got a good coach but their players are limited but with team spirit you can overcome that. I just made my comments to conceal the fact that i am a rubbish coach and i need to take the pressure off. this salary cap thing is not fair.'

My chewing gum has lost it's flavour and as a result the performances from my boys were bland and rubbery.

This one is a cracker :

"I thought we managed it reasonably well but you're never going to get a quick game against Huddersfield - and it's something that needs to be looked at.

what it actually means is - " years ago Huddersfield were a poor side who everybody could beat easily, now theyre a good side and we cant beat them anymore and its not fair !,Huddersfield should get rid of all their good players and become rubbish again so my once great team can beat them easily again  "

I think that's a fair assessment, GD.
