If Wakie are developing their academy and bringing more English players into the team then fair play to them.

if they have recruited a second rate overseas player then fair enough. when Korkidas and Fulton have done the job for us then i will blow the our signings are better than your signings trumpet.

when we are better than all other teams on different criteria then we can start criticising other teams.

Do tell me in our SL history when we fielded a team with 13 overseas players?

When was the last time we had 10 overseas players on our books?

This thread is not about 'our signings are better than / worse than yours'. It does touch upon bringing in unproven reserve graders. I would be appalled if the Giants did this.

I am unclear what on earth your last sentence is about. However some people may feel that a team with10 continuous years in SL can be criticised for still having 10 or so overseas players and still signing a reserve grader.

MG until recently our record vis a vis the academy was not that great as we put our resources into the first team. Now with franchising we have put a lot of money into bringing youngsters through and signing youngsters from other areas.

part of the difficulty has also been that any good players often went to bigger teams. as i understand it that has been the same problem wakefield have had. If wakefield have lost players like Ellis to Leeds and have then felt that they need to recruit overseas players to fill the gap until their youngsters are good enough then so be it. i will judge them in 3 years in the same way that we will judge them.

Additionally whilst we are quite rightly pleased with the number of British born players in our team we are not averse to dropping them to play foreigners. Lunt would not be playing if Faiumu had not gone back to NZ and one of Brown or Robbo would have been missing if we had signed another' johnny foreigner' like Drew, Fien or Carney.

I am also not going to go on about how wakefield had 10 foreigners in their team ina recent match i am sure that if Brough and sculthorpe had been available it would have been down to eight.

i am less concerned about what other teams are doing than i am compared about what my team are doing.
so i dont give a poop if wakey or cas have no ground or that wakey or celtic have loads of aussies in their team or whether we have sold more seasoin tickets than Bradford and therefore i do not feel the need to go bagging them at every opportunity.

At the moment the Giants are going in the right direction and i look forward to where we are in 3 years. we are going forward in our way others may be trying to to it differently. the result will be where we all are in 3 years.

then if anyone loses their franchises i will say that it is their fault for not doing A B or C but until then why have a go :?:

as for the last sentence in my post i was referring to our away support being rather limited. You may have noticed that we get bagged a lot about this. It really p!sses me off but unfortunately is true. So when we are taking 500 to 1000 to every away game i might feel a bit more comfortanble about taking the p1ss out of other clubs

My focus is not on all the stuff you mention above.

It is on a club of 10+ continuous years in SL having 10 or so oversease players and signing a reserve grader.

I mentioned it on the VT and had 28 pages of pitiful justifications. They had their ar5es so badly kicked that a few saddos had to create a thread on the wakey forum where they could 'huddle' together.

We look to have signed a quality player and a sad little wakey fan turns up. he produces one of the most self contradictory and befuddled posts I have seen and then claims contradicting yourself is being balanced :D

I think their recruitment on this issue is dire and you do not. I write my own views and do not presume to tell you what to think. However you write:

"when we are better than all other teams on different criteria then we can start criticising other teams."

I will think for myself .thanks.

And you have the cheek to slag Wakey off for signing a quality young player, who will prove to be a very good signing by Kear.

If London is Athens, Yorkshire is Sparta, a tougher community and proud of it.

Winterstein is unproven but your ability to see into the future is duly noted.

The differences between the two signings in terms of proven ability, first grade games and NRL winners rings is there for all to see.

Still blocks a chance for young British player to make the step up though.

And yeah I watch many academy games and spotted a couple of player who are good and some have appeared in Wakey first team and other teams.
