Travel/Weather Update for Sunday : Tue Feb 17, 2009 5:12 pm
Waterloo-Twickenham:
Currently showing no planned engineering works, so a journey time of between 30 and 40 minutes.
London Underground have some works planned, but nothing apart from the Whitechapel-Embankment closure to worry most people.
So, the travel gods are on our side!
The weather is looking OK, with Clouds, but temps of 7 to 8 degrees.....
The alternatives in London on Sunday are:
Guinness Premiership
Wasps v Northampton, 15:00 (yyyyaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnnn)
Barclays Premier League
Fulham v West Brom, 13:30 (yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnnn)
FA Tesco Women's Premier League
Fulham Ladies v Doncaster Rovers Belles, 14:00
The FA Women's Cup Sponsored by E.ON
Arsenal Ladies v Leeds Carnegie Ladies, R6, 14:00
Chelsea Ladies v OHH Lincoln Ladies, R6, 13:00

So I now predict a 7,000 turn out at the Stoop on Sunday. I mean, we go on and on about what we have to compete against...but let's face it, apart from a game of Onion in Wycombe and what will be a Championship game next year at the cottage, what else is there.

Agree, all being equal we should get a 'bumper' crowd.

However, notice that my site while increasing the temp to 7/8c, as yours, also indicates uplift in the WNW wind speed to 46/47km/hr which will still bring with it a wind chill of -1c, brr, brr........so wrap up warm and it will be 'long johns' & warm 'tights' all round as well as on the pitch.

So no :BOOHOO: 'baby it's cold outside'!!! That's not an excuse for not turning up.

Don't think you are correct re the trains - will take a bit longer than usual.

Between Clapham Junction and Barnes - all day
The lines between Clapham Junction and Barnes will be closed all day. Platforms 3 to 6 at Clapham Junction will be closed and all South West Trains services will leave from platforms 7 to 11.

Trains between London Waterloo and Reading will be diverted between Clapham Junction and Twickenham, calling at Wimbledon and Kingston.
One train an hour between London Waterloo and Windsor & Eton will be diverted between Clapham Junction and Twickenham, calling at all stations via Wimbledon and Kingston. The other train each hour will only run between Barnes and Windsor & Eton.
The "Kingston Loop" service will only run between Barnes and Kingston. Passengers complete their journeys using the altered Windsor trains.
Trains between London Waterloo and Woking via Staines will only run between Barnes and Woking.
A frequent bus service (every 10 minutes for most of the day) will run between Clapham Junction and Barnes, calling at Wandsworth Town and Putney.
Queenstown Road will have no service and passengers should use other stations nearby.
Trains between Ascot and Guildford will also be altered to connect at Ascot with the altered Reading trains. Until mid-day these trains will also be affected by work in the Guildford area.

Not the dreaded engineering works demon at it again, all I need now is for engineering works on the Ramsgate line so that it takes me over 2 hours just to get to London. Tempted to go the old route to Brentford by tube and jump on the 241 (I think) down to Twickenham, be able to go in Gutterfax's local then for a quick pint.. :)

Just had a look on National Rail Enquiries, not too bad, 25 mins via Wimbledon and Kingston, better than getting on and off a bus.

Thanks for correction Windy, don't know what the best option is for us really. According to National Rail it should take 25 mins to Twickenham via Wimbledon. Suppose it depends on the other people travelling with me.

.......all the more reason why we should be considering the Olympic Stadium after 2012. All this dependance on 'rail/bus' connections makes one glad to be located north of the Thames in 'tube land'!!

Still Gutterfax your doing an excellent job as the travel 'guru' - pity that the QRL site is't as helpful.
