Bit grim this but seems to me that no wins in 10 games puts us in relegation form and in the manager replacement space. However 2 questions seem relevant to me: 1)how complicit is Coleman in the squad we have out and 2) would it be sensible to replace him at this stage.
I thought Rambo made a good point that no one would do well with what is, to no small degree, a L1 side. Question is how did we get this squad. If JC said he could get some like for like players from L1 and Skolars then that was inaccurate and he has to take responsibility. However I have a feeling that might not be what happened. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was told we were confident of retaining 50% ish of our 2021 squad, that we’d be signing good Aussie and had contacts with SL clubs to bring in promising youngsters on year long loans. All he would need to do was bring in a couple of his favourites from Skolars and a couple of hand picked players from L1 sides. Later when this all proved to be eyewash he had to raid Skolars as an emergency measure, play what we have out of position, bring players into crucial positions for 2 weeks and then deal with the lack of cohesion and we are where we are. If this is the case then the 2 out of 3 L1 players leaving straight away is on him and the fact that only Latu from the Skolars ‘chosen few’ has been consistent is on him but the overall recruitment failure less so.
Turning to who would come next. IMHO it would be an internal candidate as no one would move to London to take on a bottom of the league team and I’m not sure any are an obvious step up and, should we get relegated, they’d probably be sacked leaving another recruitment hole to fill. On balance we should stick with Coleman until end of season and see what he can do. As others I think if we don’t beat Dewsbury we are done for but you never know. Either way at season’s end Some serious thinking and planning will be required for there to be any future for Broncos.
