You can spend all the money on the planet, but if the product is not right, it will make no difference, that's about the first thing you learn in marketing.

Strangely, you two seem to think that I wasn't aware that the product helps when marketing/selling. Not sure where you got that impression, but I am sure you will continue to say it, even though there are actually plenty of examples of successful turd polishing I can point to.

Nobody has ever said a winning team wouldn't help, but that spectacularly misses the point of my post...

We haven't been poop since 2002......but you two, RL fans version of the old codgers in the muppets, like to sit there and throw out comments from your lofty heights anyway.

Glad that someone else agreed with me! the way you talk it often comes over that you think the only problem and answer to our situation is marketing.

Maybe if you marketed yourself better we wouldn't perceive you as so annoying?

If the club had marketed themselves properly back in 2002, then we wouldn't be in this situation now. I never said that Marketing NOW would solve anything, but you carry on having a dig at me anyway...it'll detract from the clusterfuck unfolding at the club.

I tend to agree with GF on this and certainly against the naysayers. If since 2002 if is the start of the demise then alarm bells should have rung back then.

The infrastructure and player/fan relationships started to break down about the time Brian McDermott arrived. From being an open to fans/inclusive sort of place he was against all the socialising that had gone on before and didn't encourage the aftermatch meetings. Back room staff left, volunteers were not treated well, Chris Warren went on to better things and the friendly club that we had known virtually disappeared. Powell didn't help on or off the field and the rest as they say - will likely be history .. . . . . . . in a couple of weeks maybe?

The Community feel/volunteers will need to be recovered if the club is going to survive............whomever is investing in the team needs to understand that IMHO.

Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

As an aside, you can successfully market s**t - look at the number of people that buy Pot Noodles.
