Re: 10 Days to Save the Broncos! : Fri Nov 29, 2013 10:31 am
By the applications made in think administrators Paul Appleton and David Rubin of insolvency firm David Rubin & Partners will take over the running of the club on the morning of 5 December if no agreement has been reached. Their job would be to maximize the the assets of the clubs for the creditors, not sure what this means in practice when one creditor (David Hughes) far outweighs the others and there are no assets.

If this story is running then i think its correct that AK at Barnet has given up. However i fail to see how we can first of all 'survive' next season unless they abolish relegation.

The debts due to Hughes (and Lenegan) are in the form of subordinated loans which are at the very bottom of the pecking order of creditors, so they'd get nothing.

The administrator also has a legal duty not to run up further debts once they believe a business is unviable. Given we, presumably, have no income at the moment and no money in the bank, they would have to close us down very quickly unless they have a bidder lined up or can sell an asset, i.e. player, to raise revenue to keep us going a few days.

Yes the administrators get paid first and they are not cheap so can't see the assets going beyond that. Hope they checked the quality of the shirts in stock before taking on the job

I get fed up with all the Gus jokes on here but feel obliged to point out that there's also a freezer-full of delicious curries. 8)

What I cannot understand is why the non-indigenous pantomime that is American Football think they can make a go of it in London when RL cannot. 3 games at Wembley in 2014 just announced that will presumably play to a packed house and more talk of a possible London based franchise. Admittedly the NFL success rate in London to date is not exactly stellar - but they are giving it another shot..........

Is it just a love of all things American and sport as theatre, is it the might of the NFL marketing machine or is it just that RL is not getting its act together to appeal to London crowds? There seems to be a huge appetite in London for excellence in sport so I am assuming it is the latter?

Good luck in your fight for survival BTW. If it helps at all as a northerner based in London I see a strong and successful London presence at both community and professional level as key factor to the development of our sport in the Northern Hemisphere.

PS I also heard the Leyton Orient rumour elsewhere ;)

An interesting post. Regarding the NFL, I think that there's a lot of work to be done before a London franchise becomes a reality. One of the main concerns seems to be whether people would actually go for a season pass, as opposed to an "event".

Thank you for your best wishes for RL in London. Your point about a strong and successful presence in London is right. The trouble is that I think it would require buy-in from the game as a whole to achieve. I'm not sure that the situation of the last few years has done anyone any favours.

Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

All the 'Daily Star' story is saying is the LO have asked Wigan about any pitch problems. Given that the article doesn't say when this was, it could go back months.
