The Pass that changed seasons : Tue Mar 03, 2009 9:48 am
People talk about defining moments in a season. I know Chad was distraught after the game, indeed I tried to console hime as he overall had an absolute blinder. However I can't help wondering that if we had held on against Wigan, then we go 2 from 2 with out of sorts Salford and Warrington to follow when we have real momentum. However after that shock to the system, Salford now becomes a difficult game, and Warrington can turn their season round at any time. 4 from 4 suddenly means we are flying and serious contenders, 2 from 4 is ordinary.

Wigan on the other hand go 4-0 with Leeds and Bradford to follow. Now I feel they may get something from those games, and instead of 6-0, will probably go 4-2.

The pass that changed 2 seasons.

We lost. I am sure the players and Mac are over it (were by Sunday afternoon IMO) and are now focussing on Salford. Warrington are under performing and if they lose this weekend, then we need to be ruthless the following week. I see us as having 6 points by Sunday week and a healthy points difference (because it will be all about points difference at the business end of the season between 6th and 10th)

Unbelievable.

You tried to console him? What, was he in tears or something and had nobody else to turn to? Aren't you a hero!

I agree that winning on Saturday may have made a big difference to Wigan as they were dreadful in the first half and a fourth consecutive defeat would surely have left them even less confident for the next game, but it's only one loss for ourselves and I don't see that it will make much difference.

We lost the same fixture at the start of last season, conceding thirty or so unanswered points in the final quarter after leading well into the second half, then won our next four on the spin.

Chad is a big favourite of mine and I hope he puts it behind him and we all move on.
However I can see where Ronnie is coming from. This game is all about confidence as much as skill. A win against Wigan would have given us lots of it and we would have gone up against Salford without any doubts or fears. Now that momentum is lost.
We may still beat Salford but as they say in wendyball, once you get that winning mentality it carries you. Likewise a losing mentality from losing a few games makes you cautious and hesitant and prone to errors making it difficult to change the way you play.
Lose now against Salford - and dont say it cant happen because we have been here before - and Wire does become a problem as we will be sitting on 2pts from 6pts.

Brian Mac on Sky after the game said one loss doesn't make us a bad team.

Stop putting out such negativism!!!

The glass is barely started, never mind half full!!
