Ball in hand basics : Thu Apr 28, 2016 7:59 pm
I will start this off by saying currently coach an u11s side and if my lads played the basic ball in hand game we do I would go crazy.

We don't actually run onto the ball. The "attacking" scrum we had just before half time was the perfect example. 2 or 3 passes down the line to static players.

Our passing accuracy is that bad it is embarrassing how the hell can you win a game when you don't move forward onto the ball at pace?

I appreciate I am once more going to get slated but this has to come down to the coaching. Great in defence but basic skills ball in hand are declining season after season.

Yes you will get slated because you are a bell. A clueless one at that.

Ring Lenaghan up and tell him to sack Wane and put you in charge then.

Literally your first sentence. Implying Wigan's ball handling skills are inferior to your under 11's.

Get yourself upto Orrell then and show Wane how it's done.

Did I say that, no. I stated that if the basics of the game running onto the ball would not be done by my 11s I would go crazy.

Wire moving forward running into the ball killing us going forward at pace generating quick PTB's.

Slightly better at start of second half but still getting schooled by Wire in that respect.

If your U11's had 7 U9's playing every week then they wouldn't look too good either. I will judge when we have something resembling a full strength side on the pitch.

Clearly.

Our minus points difference and total reliance on individual players to come up with big plays ie Bateman to win us games rather than team work clearly shows just how great we are in this respect.

It is actually worse than when we were coached by Noble.

Any player who plays at SL level should be able to run onto a ball at pace. It has nothing to do with age. It is a basic skill a core skill of the game.

We seem totally incapable of doing it at times and when we do it is "the move" which is so predictable it is cringeworthy.
