the reason why Saints and Leeds have overtook Wigan is that they have simply been better than Wigan at recruiting better players and also have had very little injuries during the past 3 or 4 years the answer is very simple the salary cap has ruined Wigan's plans to back at number one again.
Look at premier league football for example if man utd chelsea arsenal etc had to oblige by a salery cap it would be possible that another team that recruits the better players than those 3 would be top!

and to add too that we were the only full time professional outfit to start with, and being able to out do everyone with money when it comes to signing players really isnt alot to shout about if you look at it logically, as some would say we bought our success, and the brittish players we had playing at the time were the cream of all the english talent over here.

The salary cap is the same for everyone, you cant blame that on the lack of silverware or a crap squad.

No salary cap either and that has ben Wigan's problem.

A purple patch inspired on his home ground by man of the match WIGAN CAPTAIN Sean O’Loughlin produced three tries in an eight-minute spell just before half-time, and the GB Lions added two more after the break to maintain Smith’s 100 per cent record as Great Britain
coach.

Sat 27th April 2002 St Helens 12 Wigan 21 Edinburgh - Sat 4th May 2002 Celtic 2 Rangers 3 Glasgow (Carlsberg dont do weeks, but if they did.....)

and wasn`t it boring, even for you lot.Nobody wants the days when one team dominated for so long, hence one of the reasons the cap was introduced.

:?
I wasnt a Wigan fan when we were winning everything but to think any Wigan fan found it boring is silly! If i was around then i would have been first through that turnstile every week home and away absolutely lapping it up!!
