I don't see an issue with this. If it was that effective, every club would do it week in week out, but they don't. Plenty of clubs lookfor the bigger advantage which is keeping the ball in.
All Quins were doing was playing the percentages, but this tactic is less effective than having a good kick which ends up around the goal line. The downside to this though is that your defensive line has to work hard.
Th tactic can be used effectively, however a decent team would not then allow themselves to be penned in. In a set of 6, you should be making 50m. This then allows you to get a good kick in and you should be able to pen the opposition in their own 10. It is up to you to stop these tactics being effective, and Hull were simply icompetent tonight.
