This was raised last year, not with Souths but someone else I think. At the time, Madge stated clearly that he would see out his contract. I know business is business but I think he's formed a real affiliation and liking for the club and believe he will stay and leave only when he's achieved everything he can.



The only tiny fly in the ointment is the Gleeson thing. Not sure how much backing he thinks he's receiving from the club but I know for sure that although the camp isn't split, some of the players are sympathetic to Gleeson rather than Madge.

I dont know if they are sympathetic or not but every player has the upmost respect for Maguire and I would be certain they would stand by whatever Maguire's decision is.

Although Souths are my NRL team I'm hoping there's no truth to this story, we've got a good thing going now at Wigan last thing we need is Russell Crowe snaring our main man.

We need a new centre, which makes perfect sense considering we've just abruptly lost one.

I would be happy for an experienced Aussie to come over for a season or 2 giving the younger lads (possibly Acton or Marsh/Charnley the time to develop at a good rate-not play week in week out).

This may not go down well but I think bringing Bailey back in a coaching role may help the youngsters. I remember people saying he was great with them when he was a player a great role model etc. Does anyone think this may happen? I know hes an Aussie so he may retire back over there or get another job out there but dont a lot of Aussies stay here in retirement? so it wouldnt be a new thing. Ah well whats your thoughts?

Sorry, didn't realise there was already a thread on McGuire. I hope he stays at Wigan for years personally, he's raised the standard so much in SL that it can only have a positive effect on England ahead of the RLWC in 2013.

Piggy was on the league lounge foxes Sunday night round up/chat show. They were discussing madge to get one of the up coming jobs at season end. But again it's pundits and players talking it up.

Imo I Would take Keith Mason from Hudds to replace Coley, good, solid prop who hardly makes errors IMO, doesn't take a backwards step and is the model pro. A few might not like him due to what he is like on the pitch but I would have him ina heartbeat.

He's not fit to lace Coley's boots imo. He’s an ok player but for me Coley is the most underrated forward in SL. His work rate, defence and dedication seems to go a miss on here sometimes.



I doubt we’d replace Coley anyway. Don’t forget our four props of Coley, Prescott, Lima and Mossop are doing just fine and we’ve got Fielden to come back and Hock coming into the mix. A new prop signing would waste much needed cap space imo.

Simply our priority next season lies firstly at centre and then either a new HB/FB or Hooker.



Carmont on an extended deal could be an option but I’d love to see us try to sign a big name player like Hodges to give us that true world centre threat.



In regards to the new HB/FB or hooker I’d go for Sam to HB, Tommy to 9 and a new FB being brought in. We need a FB who is comfortable under the high ball, can tackle, launch attacks from deep and most importantly link in the play like Sam does.

We need to replace Coley should he retire. Prescott is NOT good enough. Mind you, I suppose Hock is a good replacement when he's recovered his form prior to his ban.



Ben Davies really should start to push for a place now, I've personally never seen him play BUT from what I've heard on here and from other people who have he's a great player. He needs to take his chance when it's given to him. At this stage of his career it's vital he takes it and doesn't let it go.

He's been our 2nd best prop this season for me and really stepped up.



We need to conserve cap space and sign a truly world class back.
