The current ridiculous play-off system and the lack of prestige given to winners of the hubcap means that this stage of the season is little more than a succession of warm up matches before the business end of the season.
It's obvious from last night that both teams are way off their peak and this is no accident. Leeds have shown that it is much more important to time a run of good form than to try to play consistently well all season, now that there is much less benefit in finishing 1st or 2nd.
It's a good job that there is so much rivalry between the fans because the result in itself doesn't matter much, sadly and without that rivalry last night's game would have been a non-event.
