Tony Smith kind of confirmed Sandow was marquee on the radio.

I'm fairly sure clubs won't divulge who their marquee player is to not disrupt other players (despite TS pretty much doing it), may even be a specific rule.

Mugwump mocking mental illness for a second time -

"You are mentally ill and I can't indulge your madness any more"

Utter disgusting abusive remark from a keyboard warrior

It's frightening really that clubs aren't using the marquee player rule, says to me that perhaps the money isn't actually there to raise the cap. Why haven't Saints, for example, gone to the NRL with an open cheque book and brought in a superstar halfback? Can't blame the RFL for that.

Because we can't afford them. Simple as that. Top nrl players earn massive money and we can't afford it just like you or any other club can't afford top NRL players and that's why the is none in super league.

I dont think he meant you should be going out and signing Cherry-Evans. Think he was wondering why you havent a marquee player like the likes of Tomkins, Sandow and Segeyaro. There would be plenty willing to come over. I completely understand the reasons not to have a marquee player though as i previously stated.

Does the marquee player have to be declared on a season by season basis? For instance is Tomkins now the marquee player for the rest of his contract at Wigan.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

It just doesn't make sense for any club not to use the marquee rule if they have a homegrown player earning more than £100K per year, or an overseas player earning more than £150K per year.
You may as well declare them and have the difference available if another squad player becomes available (FPN last year) Just to put some figures to make it clearer. Suppose you have a local player on £200K per year and you declare him than you have an extra £100K available on your salary cap

But if you're not spending up to the full cap (and by implication, have no intention of doing so) then why bother?

its a disgrace considering the cap is paid for by sky

Well it's not... clubs get either 1.1m or 1.3m from sky- cap is 1.8m.

Wakey (for example) as a business just doesn't have enough fans to make the extra to spend on wages.

The new TV deal covers all the cap.

http://www.totalrl.com/ins-outs-super-l ... w-tv-deal/

Under the terms of the new contract the annual payment to Super League clubs will rise to £1,825,000 per club, which will just about cover the salary cap.
