Wanes daughter was working over there, maybe she still is.
This is probably way off but maybe IFL wants Wane to get some NRL experience and then come back to Wigan? Harris could step up to head coach and get another club once Wane returns.

aboveusonlypie... If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.
Why should they be loyal? Lenegan has laid his cards on the table with regards to the salary cap and I dont blame any player for wanting to earn a decent wage in the NRL. You can hardly blame players for wanting to leave when for the first few years they are getting paid next to nothing and even when they become established SL players they then have to fight tooth and nail just to get a half decent contract.
It's not just about loyalty and locality any more, RL is their living. First and foremost it is how these guys feed the kids and pay the Mortgage. To make themselves sellable in the future (coaching/RL ambassadors) they have to have played and remained at the highest standard for as long as possible.

The young players at Wigan get paid a hell of a lot more now than they did when Whelan and Lindsay were running the club.
