IMO he's one of the few players in the current SL that have got a bit of x factor, he'd flourish in this Wigan team. If Briscoe signs we'd have the 2nd and 3rd best wingers in the country, can't really argue with that.

I think Briscoe would thrive of the way we play. Sarginson is an interesting one. Always caught my eye when we've played London. Stands out in a poor side.

Sarginson is an interesting one, good young player, but I would not be comfortable with him as a direct replacement for Sam. I expect he would find first team chances hard to come by for a season or 2.

Briscoe is a quality player, my only worry is we lose Pats height to attack and deffend cross field kicks, but we get pace and line breaks to counter that.

It will be an interesting style shift for us due to how differently we need to play to their different strengths.

Briscoe is pure class. His main weakness is the high ball. His defense though and one on one tackling in particular is brilliant. Pace better than reported, strength fantastic. Not the greatest passer, but as a winger, not really a major concern.

Sad to lose him, only "bright spot" is the salary cap we have left (reportedly we offered him a huge deal) and the emergence of Tom Lineham, who can be as good IMO

Agree on that one

With Charnley, Briscoe, Hall, Lineham and Percival there are some very, very good wingers and 3/4's knocking about.

Briscoe is a very good winger but not good under the high ball. We don't see much of that on the left due to Pat.
However, there were no better wingers than Jason Robinson yet he was very vulnerable under the high ball. Opposition teams would target us with that tactic all day and I don't think we should make ourselves that vulnerable.
Either go with Craig Hall who is a ready made SL player and could improve massively at Wigan, or try Manfredi and Burgess, or combination of the three.
It maybe that Briscoe is signed but that doesn't stop me being worried about having a winger around the 5'8" mark to replace Pat.

Phil Wilkinson has tweeted today that he expects Briscoe to sign for Leeds if he stays in Super League.

I cant see him coming to Leeds. All our first choice backline in contracts, Jones Bishop (2014), Moon (2015), Hardaker, Watkins and Hall (2016).
