Exactly. I am resigned to losing Sam at some point and probably before the 5 year deal is up but if the club sells him before the three year clause is up I can't see how it can justify it. And certainly not if it replaces him with a young or reserve grade player.

I am sure someone will point out that the clause only meant Sam could not instigate a move in the three year period but who cares about that if our club instigates it instead?

It's bad enough losing contracted players as it is but if the club is trying to sell its best player with little hope of replacing him you have to question the ambition of those in charge.

Lets hope it's just rumours and for once the club realises its success is better served by knocking back bids and certainly by not actively seeking to sell its best player if that is what is happening.

The debate about Sam and his importance to the team is interesting. We have lost very narrowly to Leeds and Huddersfield without Sam this season and strangely that gives me hope. The team deserved to win at Huddersfield after losing Gelling early on and forcing a reshuffle and were also unlucky at Leeds. Of course we will miss Sam's genius, who wouldn't, but we have other players who can step up in other positions and compensate.

Josh Charnley in many ways is wasted on the wing as he has so much to offer like his try against Catalans from the full back position last season.

The team ethic is strong at Wigan and I trust SW to find a solution.

Sam is the biggest talent in the game for the last 20 years and he must test himself against the best which means moving to the NRL unfortunately. IL isn't intent on selling him at all he is just facing reality. Most fans cannot see past their own side, but for these guys its a living. What do Andy Farrell, Jason Robinson, Ellery Hanley and Sean Edwards have in common?

Answer; none of them played exclusively for Wigan.

The likes of Sean O'Loughlin are indeed few and far between, and that's a pity but when a player looks back over a career they may regret not trying out against the best wherever that happens to be at the time.

I'm thinking saints, can't see him signing for Wire. Maybe Salford?!

Depends on the team that Salford are building. If they spend the full cap there's no reason they can't challenge for honours.

unless kou'cash' spends big on transfers there isnt a lot of players of quality out of contract at the end of 2013, it could take 4-5 years to build a good squad challenging the top, plus with the likes of warrington, wigan, leeds, hudds, catalan and even fc being able to spend upto the full cap that some competition to sign players against

this mole guy seems to be correct in most tweets, if he is wrong he does admit it, but he isnt wrong often!
