It certainly looks that way, but who knows, smoke, fire and all that.... Rugby league in this country has to realise that we can't compete with the NRL or Union at the moment "money-wise". We should not be surprised at any moves being made for players and coaches, I would be amazed if Mr Bitcon has not been approached.

Still, if SW does go, some on this board will be overjoyed...

The salary cap doesn't apply to coaches and given the money supposedly coming Wigan's way for the sale of Hock and Mossop I'd be very disappointed if we lost the likes of Bitcon for purely monetary reasons.

Even if Wane wins something this season I still can't see why an NRL side would be interested. Not because he is a bad coach but simply because our game is viewed as inferior to theirs and Wane would still be a rookie. Unlike Madge he hasn't spent years under top coaches in what is viewed as a superior competition.

I'd be indifferent. He's not done enough to make his loss anything to cry about and if he gets the opportunity to go to the NRL and he wants to take it good luck to him. Far less of an issue for the team than losing Sam earlier than expected IMO.

Where did i mention the salary cap? Don't you think that all players going to the NRL, or kick and clap, will be going primarily for monetary reasons. I don't think that the coaches or backroom staff will be any different.

You didn't mention it. But you did mention we couldn't compete with the NRL "money-wise" so I mentioned the fact it does not apply to coaches to point out we aren't constrained by the cap with respect to paying coaches.

In other words we are able to compete far more easily "money-wise" if people come flinging money at our coaches because the cap doesn't apply. I didn't think I'd have to spell it out.

So yes coaches won't be any different to players but we aren't constrained what we can pay coaches.

That doesn't mean coaches might not fancy the challenge or the change in lifestyle but money ought not to be the decider.
