No way do we need Rangi Chase. Castleford can keep that very average player.

How dare you ... he's the Man of Steel. Or so the playing personnel of four clubs in particular decided.

When they changed it to players voting for MoS I thought that was a good thing as previously the "Players player" award which is what they used to vote for often seemed to pick the right player.

I guess because it was not the main award players voted individually as they saw fit. I am also guessing from your post above you suspect there was a concerted and possibly coordinated effort from some clubs players to engineer the result?

Looking at it the other way it would not surprise me if all the Wigan players voted for Sam because he was a team mate which kind of defeats the object of the exercise.

I don't think you can vote for your team mate. I do remember some allegations on here last season about all the Wigan players not voting for Morley just to try and boost Pat's chances. Unfortunately the MOS award can turn out to be a popularity contest rather than a players player award.

I suppose as long as any system is open to be abused, it will be abused. That's just the reality of life.

But it's a sad state of affairs when first a panel of specially selected experts prove they can't be trusted to deliver a fair verdict (as in the Trent Barrett affair), then a panel of journalists prove they can't be trusted (as in the Lance Todd last season, when some clown actually voted for Danny Maguire), and then the players prove they can't be trusted (as in the current utterly laughable Man of Steel award).

God knows what the solution is.

If we're going to go for Burgess though, surely it would make more sense just to wait a year. There's no point paying for what will be free a year down the line. If we're throwing money at someone, it should go somewhere else.

But if we wait we're not going to be the only club looking to snap Tom Burgess up. I'd rather avoid getting into a bidding war with Wire for his services, as they'll be looking for a long-term replacement for Morley sooner rather than later. He's a good player now and could become great. I'd have no problem with him being in our 17 at the start of next season

Spot on.

If Wane and Lenagan want him here then get it done asap.

No point waiting and seeing someone else take him.

Given the money that will come in from the Joel transfer I am sure that transfer fees for good young players are not out of the question. I cannot see anyway Bradford would be in a position to fend off an aggressive offer, especially if it unsettled the player as well as these things often do.

Tom Burgess in, Mossop back to 2nd row?

I'd find space for them both as props, but could be an option.

Is Tom Burgess actually a rumour or just wishful thinking?
