I have that empty feeling I had when Hanley was rumoured to be off.

We'll just have to wait and see I suppose. We can't really blame him for wanting to test himself I suppose but I'd love for him to do one more year. I personally think we need that and if we got that we'd be in a much better position to cope with his loss. We'd have chance to give further opportunities to Tierney and Hampshire and if they weren't up to the job we'd have a further 12 months to find a replacement.

All we can do is trust the club has it in hand and will get the best possible deal. I'll be fuming if we end up with 100-150k for him with some sort of half chance he 'may' come back in a couple of years.

I think the writing was on the wall it would be his last season when Murphy played all 4 preseason matches.
At the time Wane came out with a statement that Sam wasn't injured but he had to look at all options for if Sam moved on in the future. At the time I thought that was a bit strange considering Sam was said to have two more years before he could talk to anyone.

Unless its a cast iron contract for him to come back in a couple of years we should be asking for crazy money.

A saving grace is that he stays in RL, losing a talented player to union hurts every time no matter what team they play for in RL.

We'd all rather see him in the NRL then Union but I just think we need an extra year year out of him. His original deal said he wasn't going anywhere until the end of 2014 at least and that fits with our development of the youngsters much better then if he leaves now.

If the NRL are offering peanuts to Wigan then we need to look after number 1 IMO.

Quite right it should be at the end 2014 at the earliest and as I have pointed out I can't see how they can offer a great deal of money given transfer fees count on their salary cap. A wage of £500K and a world record transfer fee of say £1m would be very surprising because that would take AUF £2.46m out of an NRL club £6.3m 20914 salary cap. Not going to happen IMO.

When we earn £250K from a Wembley appearance and players like Sam are more likely to get you there I don't even see what the club gains by selling early.

Whilst I understand and appreciate it is frustrating. I do not think you can comment on the deal until the details are announced and maybe until Sam's career is over when we have all the facts at our disposal.

One thing I believe is that IFL is not the kind of person to let Sam walk without a whole load of caveats in place.

Only tone will tell, but to throw the toys out of the pram at this stage without knowing any details is a bit daft in my opinion.
