I think within 2 or 3 years (if, as I said, we can avoid losing any more to the NRL or wherever). By then we'll be in a position to replace Green & Smith with 2 of Powell, Williams & Hampshire. We have enough forwards, so that really only leaves Paddy's replacement to find (Gelling as a stopgap until the impressive Joe Burgess comes through?).
so, by 2015/16, something like:
Tierney, Charnley, Goulding, Thornley, Burgess, Williams, Powell
Crosby, MM, Preccy, Hughes, Farrell, Lockers
Logan, Burke, Spencer, Hughes

I have to disagree here (as much as I don't want to).
Having a team full of home grown players sounds fantastic, they'll be passionate about the shirt and all that. BUT for me, I honestly believe that the odd old guard Aussie/Kiwi/South Pacific Islander is a good thing for the team. The experience, some of them will have in big games (State of Origin, World Cup finals etc) will be pivotal for the young lads development.
When I first started out at Leigh Miners first team after leaving Salford I looked at the experienced players and what they did on and off the field, pre game, in training and learned from them.
Having someone vastly experienced playing in your position is a benefit to younger players - IF Anthony Minichello does sign then he will be a fantastic asset to the club both on the field and off it in helping somewhat with Lewis Tierney's development.
I think our current squad has a good balance of experienced players - young players. We showed on Monday that our young lads can mix it with the best SL team's. If we would of hand more experienced players out there (Lockers, Green etc) I believe we would of won the game. Experience is essential for Wigan.
