Watkins would be a dreadful signing, don't go anywhere near him.
Once a great attacking centre but always poor in defence.

Gildart seemingly gone in the winter.
Hankinson isn’t good enough, unfortunately.

I can see the logic as it would mean Bibby & Watkins in 2021 with Hankinson still 3rd choice & backup.
Time will tell, I suppose.

Why are people not mentioning Hardaker as a centre? Surely that’s his position now until further notice? He’s doing an okay job and should get better. I’m not 100% sold on Bibby and Hank but they aren’t bad options so I would only look for a centre if a top one became available and this is all on the presumption Gildart is off.

Truth be told it completely passed my mind. If we assume Gildart is leaving, Watkins would make sense as a replacement but as I said it just completely throws into question the point of signing Bibby

Watkins for Gildart in 2021 would be fine by me but we simply don’t need him yet. He’s always been slightly overrated for my money (mad to think the billing he’s always been given by Sky and co yet Liam Farrell seems to be treated like a ten a penny second row)but he’s still been one of superleagues best centres over an extended spell and has a few years left in him.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Joe Burgess and Gildart go at the end of 2020 and that leaves us in need of cover for the wingers and Bibby can provide that as well as fighting for a centre spot.

I genuinely forgot about ZH!
Maybe others have a presumption that French will be off home soon enough so maybe ZH goes back to FB?

I’d be happy with ZH & Bibby as centres if we lose Gildart.
I don’t see a need to spend the money on Watkins.

Leeds got rid of Watkins in 2019, signed by Gold Coast who now want rid of him before 2020 has started?

Doesn't sound a good deal to me.

When Wigan signed Bibby, Watkins was still at Leeds. So that point is not really valid. I like Bibby, looks solid and not frightened to get stuck in. Only way we need Watkins is if we already know that Gildart and French or Hardaker wont be here next season. Then it makes sense. Other than that there is no point signing him.
