I quite happy with the progress particularly Hastings and French plus we have some great youngsters coming through however, we are still short on the pack front in that we seem incapable of dominating opponents packs.
For me the jury is still out on Burgess and Clark can't even get in the starting 13 in the reserves

We've played 4 at home 2 away so until we have played all teams at least once and balanced up the home/away fixtures I can't draw solid conclusions but suspect although good improvement we still may lack intensity/grunt when we come to championship games particularly away.

I'm enjoying watching Hastings and French is the most exciting player we've had since Sam Tomkins moved to FB

Lam could well be using the young lads in these early fixtures to build their experience in lower pressure games. Bullock has a big roll to play this season, Lammy said it himself a couple of weeks ago. I reckon when the bigger games come around, we’ll see the likes of Bullock and Clarke back in ahead of the likes of Byrne and Havard (who was fantastic yesterday)!
Compare it with 12 months ago when we literally had no choice but to play the younger forwards week after week due to injuries. They’re now being selected when it suits Lammy and their games are being careful managed.
I refused to get carried away with the poor performances last season and I refuse to get carried away with this promising start. All I’ll say is, we’ve seen enough this season to give us real optimism that we’ll not be far off when the pots are dished out. I’m enjoying it a lot!

Looks like we will see rotation next game.Flower out and Partington suspended Clubb injured. Leaves us with Burgess, Bullock, Byrne, Havard and Clarke.
While I'm ok with squad rotation and resting players it made little sense at weekend seeing Bullock then play in reserves on the Saturday? I also with such competition don't see how Flower comes in to first team after such a long time out without a run out in reserves, he's no Ellery Hanley. Also not like Bullock deserved dropping or Clarke either for that matter.
This is not a moan I was well entertained at Huddersfield jit's ust something I don't get? We have a few seriously talented kids on our hands Smith, Smithies Partington, Byrne and Havard all.look first team ready with Wells getting back on track that's a pack and a very good Half to build on. Need to be sorting out contracts or improving them keep them here.

I think this is a bit unfair on Flower to be honest. He’s been out injured but he’s also been one of our most consistent forwards for years. I was ok with him coming back in, just as I was with Burgess the week before. As for Bullock, I’m a fan and he’s be in my strongest 17. However, his defence still needs work as the Huddersfield try from the PTB showed. If he can get that part of his game right, he’ll be a shoe in for a spot.

I have no problem with Flowers performances for us. I just don't get the squad rotation quotes when the ones rotated play reserve same weekend. The ones coming back from four months out slot right back in. If you say I'm not happy with aspects of players so they are playing reserve grade and so I'm bringing an experienced forward in because we need him then fair enough. I agree re Bullock his go forward is fine but he gets caught in D same can be said with Burgess. I don't think I'm being unfair on Flower I think at times he's had to carry the team and maybe some of his injuries have been down to having that role.
I still see him as part of our strongest 17.

Recruitment/retainment wise our priority should be signing Havard to a long term deal

Yes, the best forward on the park last night. We need to try and sign him up for a four or five year deal even if it means that there is a release clause in the last year.

I was at a wedding last night so didn’t see the game (lucky me) but looking at the stats just now, Havard looks like he’ll be the prop we’ve wanted for years. He made 42 tackles, took 17 carries and made 118 metres. Big George (big wage) in comparison made 18 tackles, took 6 carries and made 46 metres. People talk about his lack of fitness still and he is lacking that but he looks to be limping to me. There’s no way he’s right and he may never be fully fit from the rumours you hear.

Havard certainly looks a fantastic prospect

I’m pretty sure that medium to long term we have a pack of great potential however, right now the more experienced forwards like Burgess, Clubb, Flower and Greenwood are seriously letting the young guys down
