Give him more of a chance as a fb before judging, there was a massive negative backlash when Sam was suggested as a possible fb.

Sam moved to FB from stand off though. In the modern game it is much more effective to utilise a playmaker from fb than simply someone who is fast. Charnley is a world class winger IMO, but never a full back in a million years.

The old culture, he'd fit straight into that, the new one?...it does seem baffling but i do know Smith has praised his performances heavily in the past and he has changed some of our old 'party boys' around.

I personally think it's rubbish but this is a rumours thread.

As a player there's no doubting his talent, but i wouldn't want him at Wire, too much baggage for me.
