Why though? Because he scored a few tries 2 seasons ago. Goulding didn't shine at Salford on loan, he's never done anything to prove himself at Wigan, I can honestly say hand on heart he is the only winger I have actually never seen take a man on and beat him, his defence is average, he's bad under a high ball and he lacks pace for a winger. Are you seriously saying you would play Goulding centre next season? You must be, because if Charnley and Richards stay fit he doesn't get anywere near a wing spot. If Gelling is half as good as Carmont he immediately gets in before Goulding.
And please dont say you would play him on the wing and Charnley centre, our right side defence would be a turnstile.
What rubbish. Your hate of Goulding makes your posts about him quite laughable and they just cant be taken seriously.
In other words, you cant give me any proper reason why Darrell Goulding should play centre for Wigan so you just say that I "hate him"
The fact is, everything in my post is pretty much correct and you cant think of anything to defend Goulding, can you? He is never a Wigan centre in the memory of man and if you put it on a poll on here im willing to bet that the majority of Wigan fans feel the same.
Not at all, I just thought that it was so incorrect that it wasnt worth the time and bother, particulalry as Cherry Pie had already done an excellant reply. Also despite what you seem to think your posts had no facts whatsoever and is all just your opinion or lies that you try to dress up as fact.
Goulding did shine at Salford so to say he didnt is just a plain lie. The Salford fans really rated him and wanted to sign him and there were also various articles at the time where Shaun McCrae said how highly he rated Goulding and how he would love salford to sign him permanently. He even scored 5 tries in 9 games for a bottom of the league side. I dont really see how you can say that Goulding has never proved himself at Wigan either and again this is just your opinion, not fact. Last season for instance he couldnt have really done any more and proved himself enough to be capped by England. More importantly Lenegan and various coaches at Wigan over the years, such as Maguire who extended his contract and now Wane who has always rated him highly, all seem to disagree with you and he has played 102 games for Wigan. They would surely have released him by now, or they would have let him go when he has wanted to leave, if he hadnt proved himself by now.
Goulding is not bad under the high ball at all, in fact he is better than many, and in all of his games I have only seen him have 2 poor games when dealing with kicks and have hardly seen him drop any in the others. The first grumble that anyone had about Goulding under high kicks was after the Hull game this season when he dropped 1 kick, there hadnt been a mention in the 5 years before that so he cant be that bad. He has a very good try scoring record and has scored plenty of tries, whether at centre or wing, at every level he has played. He has scored 54 tries for Wigan and even scored 5 in 9 games at Salford. All of these tries were obviously not down to Gleeson, especially as he had hardly any try assists last season and they were not all walk ins either like you try to portray.
I have seen Goulding beat players and in his games at centre he has scored tries by bursting through tackles or by going past people. He has done this against the likes of Senior and Hape when 19/20 so he is hardly half as poor there as you try to make out. He has rarely played centre since then but when he has he has usually played well. He also has good hands and in his handful of games at centre last season set up at least 3 tries off the top of my head. Goulding is not a winger and has always been an out and out centre, he had never even played a full game on the wing prior to going to Salford. Hence why he hasnt got the pace needed to be a top winger, centres generally dont and I am sure centres like Carmont and Gleeson wouldnt fare any better on the wing. Goulding however despite this has still done a good job there.
The simple fact is that if Gelling is better at centre then he will get in before Goulding anyway so I dont know why you are getting so concerned. The more competition for places and the more cover we have the better. I just hope that if Goulding does get the centre role that some of the fans on here support him and give him time instead of treating him differently and trying to pick apart everything that he does.
