Would only work if Myler is going to Saints. They tend to be the ones who sign severely injured players who they can sit on their treatment bench for the next three years.

I'd love to see how Amos will fare this season tbh, he will have it tough to gain a first team place with Pat and Josh in front of him but I do hope that if the oppurtunity arises, he grasps it with boht hands and shows the form that he showed in the 2010 season - him in that sort of firm was a joy to watch and showed that he was, and still has the potential to be, the best winger in SL.

FWIW I agree with tuggles78 re Charnley, at times he has positionally been off and defensively weak - some of these mistakes have cost us tries and thus a game. However, he is still young and still has a long time ahead. I'd try playing him at centre for a few games, he looked good at HKR there.

I never said you were writing Josh off as a player, I said you were writing him off as a centre.

You said:
Defense should be the first attribute required for a Centre and i dont think he has got it at the required level.

Hence why I asked you what you expected of a lad in his first season of pro RL.

What i am saying is that he could be an absolute beast of a Winger, so why would we want to move him?

How do you know he wouldn't make an even better centre? He excelled there considerably in his spell at Hull KR. So much so that they wanted to sign him up.

I agree with you he's a cracking winger, but the coaching staff may want to move him because we're struggling for options in the centres in comparison to the wing. We have another winger in Ryan King coming through, but as of yet we don't have any centres coming through. A problem for British RL just as much as Wigan.

I know less emphasis is placed on a good winger over a Centre nowadays but it has been a long time since we had a real potent weapon out wide.

Aren't you forgetting about our former MOS winger Pat Richards?

I believe Josh Charnley could be a brilliant winger or centre. Given the choice I'd take a centre anytime, because as a nation we struggle to produce centres.

Players like Dallas and Carney had pace and power just like Josh. Why is it wrong to want him to emulate them?

It aint and I never said it was.

Charnley doesn't have the pace of Dallas or Carney, not even close, nor the changeof pace they both had and the ability to stand a player up. He has reasonable pace in a straight line and takes the ball in hard, however he is caught out way too much in defence letting the opposing winger get on his outside. That should be fixed with experience.

Charnley is much faster than Carney ever was! He's also got excellent footwork as he's shown numerous times.

People easily forget that Carney was awful for 75% of his time at Wigan

I wouldn't say awful, just average. Of course, when he suddenly hit the big-time, then his attitude left a lot to be desired.

I'm certainly with you in that, overall, my memories of Brian Carney are far from fond.

Carney was quick enough but wasn't lightning. His determination to get to the try line when in the clear was so impressive and bought him an extra yard.

Charnley IMO is faster then Carney was though but not as fast as Dallas.
