“Knock people out. I can’t give you any more of a free rein than that. “Create f****** mayhem. Be reckless. Because that’s what’s going to get us a f****** win next week.” Sorry Shaun but these comments cannot be condoned and you should be ashamed of yourself
As a bloke I like Shaun Wane , I've spoke to him on a number of occasions , he comes across as a very passionate Wigan rugby league man . However , passion alone can not win games in Superleague . We are totally devoid of ideas in the opposition 20 , and thats where it really matters . We have no shape whatsoever in attack . We have very few dummy runners . The amount of telegraphed drop offs we did tonight was ridiculous , especially when there were no players running lines to cause confusion in the opposition defence . It just doesn't happen . We are so one dimensional and boring it's untrue , and supporters are now getting fed up of it . As fans we want to win games but also be entertained . I take my kids and several of their mates to the matches . A few have already dropped off due to lack of action and entertainment. Losing support must be a worry to the Chairman. It can't go on ......... we need some new blood on the coaching staff . The style of play has to change next season , which means changes need to happen before then or season ticket sales will be a disaster

His reaction at the end of the press conference was cringeworthy. Walking off muttering "f****** hell" too. I don't want a coach who is happy with the crap we are serving up now. Or coming out with ifs and buts, we'd be top. It is only by virtue that the league is utterly piiss weak that we are still in touching distance of OT (we actually are, don't kid yourselves).
There have been a couple of "sackable" performances the last few years, which could normally cost a coach a job. Catalans away, Cas away, some shabby cup exits. Tonight was one too, dreadful and boring. I've said before, nothing less than a GF win will save him now and that may not be enough.
I agree 100% and even if we won the LLS and GF I would still like to see the back of him
Last night was a line in the sand moment for me as we were utter garbage,Widnes were down to 11 players and also to 12 players either side of the sin binnings and we still couldn't create anything to break them down and to actually tire them out for later in the game when we then should have been able to reap the rewards and have taken them apart
That press conference was cringe worthy,He absolutely lost the plot big style and flipped when he was asked a simple question that wasn't the usual run of the mill type that he gets asked each week
IMO it was a question that most of us on here would love to be able to ask him is it not?
ATEOTD you simply can't have a fan coaching the club, his time looks to be over and not before time
IMO the injuries are serving to highlight Wane's inadequacy. We have had probably more than any other club but a good coach gets the best out of his available resources. No one can claim that Wane is doing that. I've resisted for long enough, it's time for a new coach next season.
Quite the opposite actually. The rugby hasn't been pretty but with a busted team he's still kept us within touching distance of the top. He was being praised on here a few months ago for this.
The problem is that now we have some of our better players back and things still haven't improved skill-wise. I think Wane should stay as head coach but we desperately need someone to sort our attack out because it's unacceptable for a club of our size.

I would say the injuries were a valid excuse for the awful rugby, now he doesn't have that, neither did he have it at the start of the season, nor did he have it towards the end of last season. If we played to our potential with the ball, we would have won the GF last year and would be clear at the top now.
With Leuluai back next year we can expect a big improvement in attacking structures. Whether that will be enough to give Shaun a bit more time remains to be seen.

This might sound a bit harsh, but i'm not even sure I want TL back next season. I'm sure he'll give 100% but imo there's too many jobs for the boys at Wigan as it is. It just feels like there needs to be a complete clear out from top to bottom.
The fact that last night Wane chose to run the ball instead of take the two was the final straw for me.

If Wane remains I wouldn't pin my hopes on Tommy revolutionising our play. As far as I can see Wane has a tendency to ruin halves not allow them to flourish.
Smith used to be a decent half who took on the line, Hampshire, enough said, Williams in my opinion going backwards quickly. The thought that TL will come in and everything will we ok is in my opinion a real long shot.
I don't think everything that's gone wrong can be wholly pinned on SW as a lot of posters have been trying to do for the last couple of years. However, injuries and heads being turned by the dark side can only serve to highlight the lack of depth of talent we appear to be suffering. Dire kicking aside, metronomic plays are only effective when they're new and innovative, but we've simply been found out this year and the rest of the league has worked out how to nullify our attack. This in turn exposes the lack of a plan B from Wane and I think his time is up regardless of where we finish (I just don't have confidence in the squad to get their heads screwed on proper & put a coherent performance together for what's left of the season and it'll be up hill from 4th anyway). I've always been a fan of SW, and it saddens me to accept this.
But what bothers me more is who's likely to replace him? None of the current SL coaches are likely to be persuaded to move (Sheens' worth has to be called into question regardless whether Salford are relegated, although most of that is probably at the mad doctor's door). I'm not convinced I'd want any of them anyway - maybe Radford. Also, I'm not sure who's out of contract in the NRL or if IL would be prepared to shake the moths from his wallet. Who does that leave? MacBanana, John Kear or it's not beyond the realms of possibility IL will save a few bob & promote Matty Peet.
Season ticket price hikes better not be another 10% again this year or I'll be questioning whether a full ticket - or any flavour for that matter - is justified. Keeping the faith is a bit difficult at the moment.

A lot of what has happened to us in the last few years is Wane's fault, ever since we lost Deacon, our attack has dropped like a rocket and that's simply because Wane has absolutely no clue what to do in attack, when he played he was a prop which just about says it all. We need a complete clear out top to bottom staff wise, Shaun Wane and John Winder both need to go because quite frankly their crap, Who do you bring in as coach and assistant? Difficult one, you could try bring Maguire back, I know his attacking play isn't the best but it's hella better than Wane's.
Assistant wise if promote Matty Peet, he's done a good job with the youngsters and deserves a chance at first team, the one thing we need is an attack coach, what we should of done was bring Leuluai back as an attack coach, he would of freshened ideas up and got us scoring more points. It tells you all you need to know when the current attack coaches are the players, Tomkins Smith and O'Loughlin should not be attacking coaches, 2 of them are always injured/playing with injures and the other is simply not good enough
If we want to win anything next year we need new ideas and that's starts right at the top, bring in a new Coach, Assistant and attack coach with quality, most likley from Australia, the squad is good enough, it just needs someone coaching it good enough
