I cannot stand the warriors tag, or "rhinos, bulls...etc" its embarrassing., cheesy, pointless and should all be dropped.

Anyone who says their kids go to watch the "warriors" has it wrong. They go to watch the local rugby team with their parents, they'd go if it was Wigan RLFC, Warriors or anything.

We are Wigan and the football are 'The Latics'. No need for a silly Americanised nickname.

im an old school fan and have always wanted to revert back to wigan rlfc.

having said that, although it took a bit of getting used to i refer to them as warriors......it makes them distinct from latics in a way.

i travel the country a lot and wear the rugby shirt most of summer and get asked "do you support wigan?"....when i say yes, they tell me they support aston villa or summat.......so i stress WARRIORS.

lots of folk away from the north think latics are the only team in wigan.
strange, but true.

I've grown up knowing Wigan as Wigan Warriors so it doesn't really matter to me what we're called.
