Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

People on here slated stains for signing Amor so I think it would be double standards to try and make out Clubb is a good signing,Infact we laughed when they got linked to him earlier in the season, unless he is playing for peanuts to try and prove himself at a big club I see this as an awful signing, but I didn't see much in Ben Flower before he came and he has done well so you never know.

Amor is average at best, I don't think we missed a trick there. But he is a superior signing to Clubb.

London spend the cap to give players a living wage in the capital.
If Clubb rents a house up here (3 bed semi) he'll pay £750-850 pcm.
Should a player from these parts rent around London (The Stoop) he'll pay between £1600 & £2300 pcm. That's just for starters.
Around here a 7 stop commuter journey is £50 a month. London £116.
IL could pay him subtatially less then he is on at London B and he would have a far better standard of living.

Well IL could try and while you can play the numbers game like that I am sure a player who moved north would rather like to enjoy having a few more quid in his pocket at the end of the month rather than be told he is going to take a pay cut so his net pay remains the same based on someones rough idea on the difference in the price of pies.

London have a slightly higher cap to give a "London weighing" to their wages don't they?

If so the only pay cut Clubb would be expecting to take (if any) would be based on the loss of any London weighting to his wage. He is their captain after all.

It's not a given he'd come cheap IMO.

Where are folks getting this idea that Clubb is on a low wage? I thought London spent their entire cap, so must have been paying players a decent salary. Given that Clubb was the captain it's not a huge leap to believe he was earning well.

He may well have been their top earner or thereabouts but I can't see him being in our top 10 unless IL has truly lost the plot. I'd imagine he saw the spectre of Championship rugby looming and thought it best to take a short-term pay cut in order to guarantee a full time contract at a club that can help him develop into a good player. Plus he was sick of losing games according to the interview he gave in the papers.

The coaching staff have obviously seen something in him if the rumours are true. There has also been many players signed recently that have been written off before that arrived. Some signings work some dont.

I remember a psychiatrist saying performance in professional sport is based on 50% confidence, 40% hard work and 10% skill. If he has been playing without confidence he has lost half his game.

He may turn out to be a good signing he may not, the chances of the latter are increased if Wigan fans get on his back. If he does sign I'll support him like any other player who wears the shirt.

I think you will see Clubb improve at Wigan under better coaching and make a decent forward.

Does anyone else think we'll see an announcement this week? :) Tomkins going but signing to return, with Bowen, Sarginson and Clubb coming in plus a new contract for a first teamer e.g Charnley would be my guess? I think it has to be this week with having no game at the weekend, if we wait until next week it might interfere with our prep for the semi final.

The WEP seems to think it will be announced before our next game to give people chance to give Tomkins the send off he deserves.

As disappointing as it is to see him go the lad deserves one hell of a reception. There have been a good few factors involved in our resurgence as a club but Tomkins is one of, if not the biggest. He's a once a generation player and it's been a pleasure to watch him these past few years.

The deal is rumoured to involve him coming back here but I don't trust that element in any of these deals.

I was hoping the announcement would be today. Can't see it being next week.

I'm really praying that Sam gets the send off he quite rightly deserves.

Lets face it Sam has been head and shoulders above ANY player in SL over the past 3 seasons. As you mention he's played a vital part in our resurgence and he's a once in a generation player (arguably the most talented player that we've ever produced through our system).

After one MOS, 2 challenge cups, hopefully two SL titles and a bucket load of special moments and plays he deserves a massive send off.

Sadly i know how fickle and inwards looking some of our fans can be.
