Part of me gets it. I called 100% Warrior out earlier in the season to say that you can't knock the club until it's finished it's recruitment. I stand by that, but here we are at the end of the year and not only is all our business not done, but there's real talk (Zak) of one of our best leaving + rumours of another going. There's talk of another (HB) IL said it so it's one of those semi fact things again, but why leave it so late?
I look over at Saints and they just seem to have to their stuff together. The business is done, it's announced and it's onto the next year. We can debate all we want if they are stronger or weaker, but I doubt many will say they haven't moved quickly and decisively.
Agreed. I think a lot of the frustration boils down to the
apparent shambles after shambles we
seem to be stumbling in to - but then again even they are just rumour. Perhaps we’re frustrated and inpatient after the last few years of mediocrity, the astounding lack of action from IL/KR when it’s being slapped in their faces how awful we were, how Saints/Warrington/Leeds (on the face of it) have got their business done early and got it done
seemingly well whilst we are (so called) looking at losing one or two of our best players and (perhaps 2+2=5 here) replacing one of them with Iain Thornley.
That’s where I’m at. I am actually excited for the new season, I am hopeful our new set up will at least set us back on the path to where we belong. It’s just difficult given the above and witnessing what we have over the past 3years and especially last season.
I don’t expect us to flash the cash if ZH leaves, like it or lump it but we do have sufficient cover for centre. I would however expect the chequebook to come out if we lost French. He is a massive player for us and must be replaced like for like IMO. Field may well slot in that void and if so we need to still keep the cheque book out and sign a HB. Ideally Jake Truman.
