How many squad players have, Saints, Leeds, Wire, Hull, Hull KR, Castleford, Salford, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Toulouse or Catalan got for next season?
I've explained how the reserve grade will look, and Wigan will have enough players to compete well in all three grades. I mean you wouldn't think from your remarks that they have WON nine of the last eleven academy championships.
Do you think that could be why so many get promoted to the 1st team squad?
The reserve team as a result of there being now being only 27 establised players in the first team squad instead of the normal three dozen or so will mean that a number of players in the Academy will have to double up and play more games than players of the Academy have done in previous seasons.
The financial situation caused by the lack of income from the last eighteen months of the pandemic will mean that most clubs will have to have to make economies incuding trimming their normal first team squads with more reliance on younger players from their Academies. That is if they are forunate in having a Academy.
The pandemic has not helped Wigan and its finanancies with the losses previously sustained from the playing of the game at Millwall, the tour to Australia and the move of the headquaters of the club to the Robin Park Arena which has led to the financial problem in maintaining its normal quality and standard of the first team squad.
Why do you think that Leulaui who was expected to retire has suddenly made the decision to carrying on playing for the next twelve month and IL stating that the club may be only signing one more player and that could only be to replace a player rumoured not to be coming back or to replaced a player rumoured to be leaving the club.
The only alternative is for the club to get more investment, otherwise its going to be a long and winding road for the club.!
thats up to the coaching staff in place to develop the players thats the first thing Matty Peet said that a few players were underperforming and they would have to be improved.
But Matty Peet as an Assistant Coach was part of the coaching team that saw that some players were underforming.
Hope that in his new position of head coach, he will rectify it!

I've given you thirty four players who can cover 1st team and reserve grade. Some of those are academy players but I believe the academy is moving back to U18's next season, so the majority will be over age. At least twenty nine of that squad will be too old for the academy, maybe even a three more.
The academy and reserve grades will not play on the same weekend and the reserves will not play a full fixture list i.e home and away.
I don't know where you are getting the twenty seven man squad from as NO team has yet released their squads.
And when did Wigan last have a 1st team squad of 36 players?

Game set & Match
I was going to mention that the alternate weekends for Reserves is the key to this argument (and I believe the right thing to do to slowly build up after Covid and all the player/Finance issues that has caused)
You wouldn't want full squads for both this year - there would have to be some crossover
