On paper, for me anyway, they’re favourites for both trophies. Their squad is far better than the rest and if they travel as well as they did in 2021 I can’t see them being anywhere other than top.

I’d love them to win the GF but they don’t have the defensive fortitude of Saints when it’s hey lads hey
If Saints turn up they’ll win the lot.
We are a million miles away from either team particularly if the new Aussie forwards don’t fire.

I’ll accept improvement in play for 2022 but it’s a pretty poor starting point.
We’ll know at HKR if we are in the game or not.
What I don’t want is any shoite about “the end of the season counts”. I want every game to count even friendly’s if we have any.

If we do our talking on the pitch and non of the bs in the wrestling pit poop I’ll be half way there.

That's what we did in 2012, culminating in winning nowt. It's also why we ran out of steam in 2011 and didn't even make the Grand Final despite realistically being the best team that year. The system we have means that as long as you're consistent enough to make the play offs, it is all about winning knockout games. Yes we should want to win every game, but ultimately we have to play to that system. If the training load, rotation of the squad etc means that we win fewer league games but win a trophy, that's fine.

I don’t think we’re in that place to think we can time a run to a GF perfectly from September onwards at the minute. We need to build some confidence and a fear factor about playing us again and to do that, I think we need to make a fast start and lay a marker down. There may be blips along the way but if we start slowly, it’ll be tough to build the side back up, certainly when you consider just how low on confidence they looked at the end of last season.

Yeah it's a balance. I certainly wouldn't say its all guns blazing for every game though, not if you want a chance of winning a trophy.

I bet both of em play more minutes by May 2022 than clubb did in the last 2 years

Perhaps thats because Clubb only played when he was needed to fill in as a result of injuries, suspensions and a smaller than normal squad because no financial income coming into the club as normal.

On one occasion, the club could not even name enough players on the day a squad had to be announced.

How the club managed to play twenty five games plus Challenge Cup games is a credit to all the players involved including Clubb.

Hopefully, Peet will not have the same problem next season with his better and bigger squad due to the financial situation having improved.

If things had been normal, perhaps Clubb would have retired the same couple of season's earlier, especially with his medical problem.

Its what you call Loyalty to a club that signed you!

I think the aim should be to go hard at every game but naturally you’ll have dips throughout the year. The system allows you losses of form and if you’re a top side, you can time a run and have that confidence in the bank that come the business end you’ll be ok and you’ve done it all before.

I suppose it’s only 2020 when we did it last but it just feels like this is a new group and a new era and we can’t afford to just think ‘we’ll be ok when the big games come around’. I look around the league and pretty much every team looks quite a bit stronger than last season. It’s quite feasible we don’t make the play offs in 2022 if we don’t find form and confidence early IMO. I’m confident we will be fine and we will be in the top 3 or 4 places but Saints and Catalans are strong, Leeds and Wire will be much improved, as will Huddersfield, Cas and Hull. I think HKR look stronger and even Salford and Wakey look better on paper.

I've been a massive advocate of wanting to see more in the regular season games.

For me, it's not about winning every game but setting a good minimal level of performance that we don't ever dip under. We need to be in contention to win every game. We might win some easy, we might lose some too but we simply can't see what we did at points past year & under Wane i.e you just knew from KO that they aren't interested.

The best teams have that level of consistency and that sets them up we'll come final time.

That's the 2nd time you;ve posted that kind of appraisal

I'm just going to say that I don't ever remember a Wane team - "Not being interested".
They may not have played well etc, but "Not interested" Never

Beat me to it.

We did have some horrific performances under Wane, they were few and far between mind, but I don’t think I’d ever categorise one of them drubbings as “not interested”. Where as under Lam….well there’s too many to mention.

We should train and be set up to win every game but have the overall realisation that there will be injuries, fatigue and dips in form that prevent that. History shows that is fine, especially if the Grand Final is the priority as you just need a combination of a play off spot + timing your form to the sept/Oct period.

The club just needs to find the right balance of intensity in training, rotating players and easing players back into the team following injury. The success of this will be a key determinant of where we finish in the league, including form.
