I agree the mole isn't always right by any means as for French I don't think he will be back but that's just me if I where in his position,but it comes to a point where the club has to be selfish,for want of a better word and bring the situation to a head but I give Wigan credit for giving uim the space and time he clearly needs

Stumbled across a story just now on a Canterbury Bulldogs fan page about French. It was a link to a piece in the Daily Telegraph over there, saying French Is due for talks with Canterbury and Parra for a move there in 2023 but he is determined to see out 2022 with Wigan.

I can live with that. I’d love to keep him long term but he’s in an extremely tough position and if we get next year from him, that might be the best we can hope for.

Completely agree, I’ll be sad to see him go but hold no animosity towards him for it. He has to make the decision best for him and his family. I’d think the same if it was this year too in all honesty though significantly more disappointed to see him leave.

This is nothing against French at all here but if this is true, are we really going to see the best of him with all this lingering over him? That’s not to suggest he should go now - far from it, but perhaps we’ve also got to take a step back and look at this objectively rather than subjectively.

I'm starting to think the club will release him from his contract on compassionate grounds. I just can't see him coming over.

The things is as well is it seems they are waiting for his mum to die. Whilst that may be assumed to be soon, nobody knows how he and his family will react and how long he needs to stay over their post the unfortunate happening.

its not like the club and French will have agreed he comes back after the funeral is it? Or will they have but its subject to change?

Very hard situation for French.

Maybe the club could swap him for another player instead of a transfer fee, He can then carry on playing while being near his sick mother and we can maybe get a half decent Centre/prop/hooker

If he did stay in Australia I reckon we’d see Field at FB and bank the money for a mid season investment. In fairness that’s probably the shrewd way to do it unless someone is available who is an adequate replacement

I would absolutely hate someone to be discussing my private life on the internet in this level of depth.
