Maybe they are waiting to get the full picture on more than just Amos. With Amos out for a prolonged period then the prospects for appearances from Phelps and Carmont while Roberts is missing have to be considered. If one or more is doubtful for a while in terms of being able to play regularly then you are looking at consideration of whether Charnley, Marsh or Vievers are ready to step in if needed or whether it would be best to recall Ainscough from Cas. It is then a matter of whether the number of likely appearances for Ainscough (if they had to consider recalling him) would be less than he will get at Cas. If he would be used only as cover and play much less if recalled then would it be better to leave him at Cas and risk using an untested lad to cover injuries/ loss of form.
Those to me are obvious considerations in the aftermath of Roberts' injury (there may be more) and to release one piece of information such as the length of time out for Roberts would only leave fans debating who would replace him and no doubt complaining (from some) about why we haven't been told what is being done to plug the gap in the team when that may still be being sorted out.
