The good thing for us is that we have two young options on that left wing in Burgess and Manfredi so they can share the role. We also have the option of putting Thornley or Gelling out there so we do have options.

If we still had Carmont or a player of comparable ability at left centre we could stick my one legged granny out there and she'd go ok.

Charnley was sent out on loan. So it's not one or the other.

Lets not forget that its World Cup year.

You can guarantee that there will be players that are not on the radar who will be once the tournament has started and its often a decent chance to pick up a quality player who may not cost the earth.

While I agree that neither Gelling nor Thornley have helped much, I think there's more to it than that, partly I think he's lost even more pace but also we seem to have abandoned the high attacking kicks to him that brought so many of his tries previously.

It's a missed opportunity.
We already have Charnley, so I don't know why someone mentioned who wood we rather have, no ones mentions a swap deal.
Yes a centre would be ideal, but who's available? We also need a quality winger to replace Pat and Briscoe is available.

No I'm not underestimating burgess, anyone says he's ready is overestimatinghim as he's totally unproven at SL level regardless of how he's looked in the lower grade.

Right now I can honestly see SW having Gelling or thornley on the wing as the other plays in the centres.

Gents you sent over what you said was an under 19s to Leigh for last seasons friendly, that team included Crosby Burke dudson Taylor Tomkins Jnr thornley gelling Hampshire tierney and manfredi
You have some great kids continue to let wane trust in them and I feel a few of your backs will break through in 2014

That's the nail on the head for me.

When you look at, on paper, the team next year it lacks that star quality. Bowen and Charnley aside, do any of the names we expect to see in the backs really excite anyone? I really rate Goulding at centre, and I like Smith, but 3 years ago the backline at OT read Tomkins, Goulding, Gleeson, Carmont, Richards, Deacon and Leuluai. I don't see how Gelling, Thornley, Green and possibly Sarginson or Clubb come close to that.
