I’m really surprised that he has been allowed to go out on loan. We’ve got next to zero cover in the backrow.

We are definitely under strength in the second row plus KPP has next to little experience and he’s on his bike at the end of the season.

We’re going to need to sign 2 second rowers for 2024. It’s amazing to think how we’re in this position after last season having 6 or 7 fighting for 2 spots. It’s a re-run of a few seasons back, when we had 4 wingers, lost 2, Manfredi couldn’t get fit and then we were left with 1.



To add to that I’ve read NRL clubs are lining up to take Sironen back over there and Matautia has confirmed he’s going back as well, so Saints will be shopping in the same market as well.

Jake Shorrocks has no position, he’s a fit, strong, skilful, disciplined athlete but has no position. From the same school as Sam Powell in that hes a grafter but no urgency in attack and no position, luckily for Powell the 9 position came available. We cannot keep Powell, Smithies and Shorrocks in the same team because there are the same style of player.
