I’ve not seen any of Wests since they were awful (mind you that was only about 3 weeks back) and in those early games, I thought Bateman was no better (and probably not as good) than he was here last season. His lack of form here was exaggerated anyway IMO. I thought he was really good by anyone’s standards last year but his own are very high and people expected a lot. He was outstanding in some of the big games, especially in the cup final.

I do rather get the sense with Bateman these days that every time he gets the ball, he thinks he's Brett Kenny.

Yeah, didn’t think he necessarily had a great game but I like the look of him, looks to have decent hands and looking for an offload and tough to take down with his big limbs, his frame will probably take another couple of stone of mass if he can put it on down the line too so he could be a monster.

Walters has the tools you can work with. He over played at times but he was a handful. I’ve only seen him play prop recently, so to see him wider at times was interesting. He’s a no risk pick up for me. He could be a nothing signing but he won’t be costing the earth and by the same token, he could be a fantastic player for us.

He's interesting- not sure what to make of him yet. Played long minutes and definitely didn't take a backwards step. I think Phil Clarke was right about his offload - it would have been a great one if the winger was in position.

He’s just a no lose signing for me. If he ends up as a dud, then so be it. On the optimistic side, if there is a kid available, who stands 6ft 5 tall, weights 17 stone and is mobile, why not take the punt? He looks to have some character and isn’t a shrinking violet as well, so I look forward to watching him.

He isn’t a no risk signing not costing the earth imo. He will be on a decent wage as most teams in the league were keen on him and he’s seen as a future international by a lot of people. I don’t think he’s going to be anywhere near a top earner but he’s definitely gonna be on a decent screw and expected to perform.

Bit off track but Leeds have a great young pack currently, a shame for them they’ve been so poor recently in recruiting senior players. Big Mik 24 and Holroyd and Walters 22 is the basis of your pack for the next 8/10 years maybe but they’ve dropped the ball on Walters like they did with Dupree too
