Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the NRL in either 24 or 25.

Quite a few people online have said Smithies' contract runs till the end of 2025 so I'm sure it's true. But not sure why Wigan kept the extension quiet - they didn't announce it as far as I know. This article says he’s out of contract this year. I would imagine if that was the case it would have been announced or at least rumoured he was going to the NRL but it seems odd that there was never an official announcement of him extending his contract (or none I can find) https://www.totalrl.com/11-wigan-warrio ... ague-2023/

Good stuff, I presumed so as if he was OOC at the end of the season I’m sure he would have either extended or announced he was leaving (or at least a string rumour) by now.

We do seem to just not bother announcing the odd extension (or correcting incorrect articles by the press).

Whatever the truth is, I just hope we can keep Smithies here long term. He’s gaining In influence and importance and will he captain at some point I’d imagine. I know he has an Aussie agent now but the optimist in me says that maybe he’s just trying to drag a few more quid from us but I guess that’s pushing it.
