The guy who used to work for the WEP (Aspinall was it?) used to just put rumours in the paper from things he'd read on here but Wilkinson seems pretty spot on most of the time.
The fact that he states it's a 2 year deal makes me wonder.
I've seen them bomb a quarter final, bottle a semi final, finish as league leaders, but I've still, never, seen the Wire win the league Doom and gloom, doom and gloom
Re the change of scenery, it might be exactly the thing he needs to get out of the Sydney NRL goldfish bowl and get back on the straight and narrow.
just like it helped tim smith? the wigan goldfish bowl and the 'bright lights' ( ) of king street aren't exactly like escape to the country!!! its accounted for more than one professional player being a load of poop for wigan.

in terms of ben flower the guy left a lot to be desired last night - in his second stint he fell off his firt 3 one on one tackles...
got the physique and if the deal is right for wigan then im not against it but if we are signing him to be in the 17 then may need a rethink after last night

He looked raw last night didn't he. He also threw a couple of loose passes but then maybe the guy was nervous if he was playing against his new team.
If anyone wrote down their first choice sides for next year he'd be a couple of players outside the 17 at least anyway. He will be signed as back up without doubt.
Clutching at straws possibly but I watched the re-run of Hull and Wire last night and thought Lauaki showed a few glimpses of potential with some very strong runs.
A complete hot-head though, seems to have a comparable amount of brain cells to Gareth Hock.

Thats why it seems a strange signing.
We already have a better sh*t for brains second row/prop that can produce magic offloads, big hits, barn storming runs and so on whilst also coming up with mistakes and penalties.
Ah well I trust Lenagan fully and even though he's leaving Maguire will have been consulted as well as Wane.
