We are second best when it comes to the stadium usage. We can't do anything about it.
If we have a game scheduled for a Friday night with all corporate seating and boxes sold and then Latics get an FA cup draw for the Saturday, we will have to move our game. He was quite matter of fact about this and up front.
Yeah basically Whelan dictates when and where we play if there is a fixture clash regardless of the circumstances. However we do have a very good lease apparently

While i appreciate his need to be carefull i am starting to get very concerned with IL's attitude towards paying players, it seems we have missed out on or are destined to miss out on all the "top" players that are on the market.
And yet presumably you approve of him significantly upping the pay of our best youngsters in order to keep them at Wigan?
It's a balancing act and it's about priorities. He also mentioned that he envisaged 'in the medium term' that we are seeking to provide the bulk of our players from out own Academy, with about three world-class players from elsewhere.
He also mentioned that the current situation would change radically in 2010, when five of our current big earners come off contract.
If we have another 20k on the cap why not offer part of this or all of it to blowother clubs offers out of the water, cause we are not gonna get much with 20k even if we do send players out on loan.
In regards to paying 75k for this un named player, why wont he pay it?
Im glad I didnt go, sounds rather naff.
Can anyone tell us the sponsor yet?
I know....I've Bingoin mad waitin to hear

You're 100% correct. Given our fanbase unless the stadium company is taking a massive chunk of ticket revenue ( ) this should not be an issue. Let's hope IL was saying this as part of a clever ploy to keep attendances high... otherwise it could be read as an admission that a large percentage of ticket revenue is being taken by the stadium company (since they aren't, according to IL, charging a high rent).
Merchandise - IL & MH stated their intent to grow merchandise sale triple fold, from £500K per annum to £1.5M, to 'get up there' with the likes of Leeds, Saints & Wire.
