"Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.
Exactly! Someone asked if there's any plans to improve the ground at Orrell. It's only used for academy games where attendances can't be too high so don't see the need to spend what little money we have on it. That money could be better spent elsewhere.
I was pleased with the forum. They told it like it is and they told it straight. Do people want them to lie about deals and make premature announcements? That is horrendously unprofessional and where we have gone wrong in the past.
As regards the lease situation, anyone who knows anything about business / landlord and tenant situations would know that what we have is a good lease. The "landlord" has the final say and it is fair to say that the landlord is biased. There are certain situations where we come second - there is nothing we can do about it - we need to accept it and move on whilst trying to forecast all eventualities as our club are doing. I have researched and discussed all eventualities on the above situation with many people on a council level, legal level, surveying level - its life and its business and people need to move on. The best we can hope for is that remarks about the pitch in the media go away and then the interpretation of the word "conflict" between fixtures is relaxed somewhat.
I am however extremely embarassed about so many of our fans who go to those events (we all know the random crazy lady I'm talking about )but I suppose every club has them. So many people tonight just complained complained complained - a bit like this messageboard at times. I suppose Ian is right in that no one ever reports the good - the interest is in the bad. People like to vent, complain and question but never praise, congratulate and commend people.
I am thoroughly impressed with Ian Lenagan's commitment, Mick Hogan's achievements and plans and I was inspired by Noble's attitude tonight. I am proud of my club for what it is doing and where it is going. That does not mean I won't criticise / complain when it is due - but I do wish more people would be proud and happy SOME of the time
What came across though was poor PR by IL / by the club.
They do not promote good news. People being appointed. IL stating we just do it is not good IMO. You have to defend the club. IL is the voice of Wigan.
Like him or loathe him Lindsay was a master publicist
