Why would the RFL fine Wigan?
Today was much better for the game than if a full strength Wigan had beat Widnes 44-10 or whatever. It gives Widnes fans some hope for the season and brings excitement to the game.

I didn't realise it was Wigan's job to throw crumbs of comfort to Widnes. The whole idea of sport is to win, not to front some jolly little PR exercise.
But more to the point what about the other clubs down the lower end who we play who won't be given the same chance to win against us? It is not fair on the likes of London that we play a reserve side against Widnes and will now most likely play the full strength team against them because we won't want to drop another two points.
It might have annoyed the Wigan fans that they have lost but at least Wigan have got faith in their young players, a lot of other clubs wouldn't produce the high quality youngsters that Wigan do so couldn't pick a squad like this.
What annoys the Wigan fans is every man and his dog knows we would have won that game if Wane had not screwed up because when it comes to home grown talent we are already playing plenty of that week in, week out as it is. So there was just no need to do what he did and the lesson to be learnt here is for Wane to learn.
Wane had the chance to steer his side to the top of the league and so I do think it is arrogance on his part to risk not doing so because it shows disregard for what the supporters want. He may think its smart to try and play the long game but really given we are only five games in there was no need to rest anyone. He would have done far better to introduce just one youngster and have won the game comfortably. He would have got credit for giving the young player a game and for taking the side to the top of the league.
