The lad deserves flack I agree. However (and it pains me to say this) Clubb is shot and needs to retire.

Been a passenger and totally vacant for a long long time now. It’s a shame as he did offer impact. Now though I reckon he’s the slowest person in super league. Zero impact and won’t be paid pennies either

I agree re players such as Powell & Sarge but for me we have others we need to replace first namely TT, Navarrete & Clubb. On top of those 3 Williams looks like he’s gone, if not at the end of this season SOL & TL won’t have long left.

still did his job, lots have been in the first team years and need a lot better but apart from the top hookers in the league on yesterdays performance you wont get much better than him.

Roby, Clarke, Leeming, Houghton, Lussick, McShane, Parcell, even Brad Dwyer are all better than him.

Going forward I agreed, in defence I’d say only Houghton and Roby get close.

His work rate is exceptional and whilst I agree he lacks the punch in attack I think he is still an asset if you combine him with an explosive type hooker that we haven’t had at the club since I can’t remember when, Mark Smith probably.

Most of the Props are also all playing in packs that make big meteres and again that isn’t us, or hasn’t been for a few years. A bit more go forward from the Props makes life a lot easier for a 9.

Yes, this has been my stance since the Powell debate started. HPowell is steady and works his socks off
However, he’s not good enough to be our main hooker and at best he’s worth a squad place to cover injuries etc. I’d take any of those listed ahead of him.

Powell is one of those players who I feel guilty criticising, but though he often gives 100%, effort alone is not enough.

It's true, there are probably only a handful of hookers in the competition who are better, but it's one of those we need.

I reckon we'll finish mid-table this year at best. To return to the higher tier, we need much greater guile and invention from our pivots. Given that we'll be losing George too - and still have not announced a replacement for him - I reckon that finding a new no. 9 is as much a priority now as a couple of new props.

My point was that most clubs have a hooker that’s better than Powell (not just a handful) and I agree, it’s hard to be critical of a lad who puts in as much effort as he does.

Sarge had a mare no bones about it but he’s a good squad player IMO. I think we need somebody to really push hard for his place and I’m not sure Hankinson is that man.

Our biggest area of concern is the props IMO and our focus needs to be on them. Guys like Isa, Powell and Sarginson do a job but we’ve got at least three props in this squad that are either not good enough or past their best. If we can move on Clubb, Tautai and Navarette then we should be doing so without hesitation. I like Clubb, he’s been a good player for us but his body looks shot. The other two are just not good enough. I sense Tautai could be but he’s only shown it when chasing a contract.

I agree, I think Sarginson is a good utility back. I suspect that he's on a wedge after returning from the NRL though, and he isn't worth it. Let go, or re-sign him on relative peanuts.
