Quite sad really. Makes you wonder how they manage to attract sponsors for their site

There'll always be idiots who'll sound off foolishly and let the rest of their fellow fans down.

Used to hear it at away grounds when Hanley was playing, Edwards, Farrell etc.

Wiganers are no exception to this. It would have been a total nonsense to deny that Sean Long was an amazing player, so some of our lot preferred to make big play of his off-field antics etc. Equally, there were some who stubbornly refused to accept Kevin Sinfield's quality.

However, once you've been watching a long time, I think you're so embedded in the game that you can appreciate these guys' skills regardless of all other factors. Yes, they can be instrumental in your team's destruction, but rather than hating them for that talent, a more sensible reaction would be to fear them.

Overall, I reckon most fans would prefer to watch a game with stars in it than a game without. Even though Welsby has wreaked havoc against us many times, it would be a damn shame if we lost him to the NRL.

It’s true though. He’s an exceptional broken field runner. Apart from that he has nothing to his game. Which is why there is absolutely zero interest from the NRL

I think we have been here before :)

Facts always beat assumptions or bias

Jai Field:

16 Tries (9th in SL)
21 Try Assists (7th in SL)
117 Tackle Busts (5th in SL)
18 Clean Breaks (12th in SL)

Not too shabby for a one trick pony.

And he missed 7 league fixtures with injury. On an average per game basis he’d be top or certainly in the top 3 in each area. I remember around MOS time looking at his try and assist figures compared to French and Welsby and he beat both pretty comfortably on that average per game basis.

I think he’s the best fullback in Superleague. I’ve said many times I think Welsby would be a better stand off than fullback and obviously French is at stand off now. Maybe both are better players but as a fullback nobody touches Field IMO.

Jack Welsby

Tries 12 (4 less than field)
Try assists 27 (2nd in SL)
130 tackle busts (1st in SL)
24 clean breaks (5th in SL)

There is a reason one is wanted in the NRL and the other is a one trick pony.

We were not discussing Jack. I believe that he needs to go and give the NRL a gig. Your statement was quite clear and the facts have proved you wrong yet again.

Or to put it in it's true perspective; every single stat of Welsby's, except clean breaks, is worse than Field's as Welsby played 29 games to Field's 23. In addition Field scored a third more tries than Welsby in significantly fewer games

Glad the NRL don't want our one trick pony, more than happy for him to keep doing his one trick for us for the next 4 years. Lovely stuff.

And who's to say that Welsby will end up with more NRL games than Field (or French)? That hasn't happened yet.

The idea that IL had nothing to do with the Wigan Warriors team that's about to walk out this year is not worth puking on (but the guy who implied it definitely is). Not very nice, why you being so mean, it's only an opinion :CHILL:
