Re: Sam Burgess : Fri Jul 03, 2015 7:09 pm
Sorry, but you're kidding yourself if you think he'd even consider signing for Wigan.

His girlfriend/fiancee is Australian. His brothers all live in Australia. His niece is in Australia and his mum teaches in Australia and his grandmother lives there too.

He loves the Australian lifestyle and can earn a damn lot more money in the NRL. Why on earth would he swap all this for the chance of playing infront of 2,000 people at Salford in an away game for Wigan in freezing February temperatures?

I've just heard from a good source that we have a new forwards coach lined up who will resolve our issues and some overnight.
IL was seen this afternoon exiting Harry's Bar after interviewing the go to man with the font of all knowledge on rugby league forwards.
My source confronted IL who seemed somewhat startled but admitted he was still floating on air after meeting with the great man.
After a brief interchange my source got down to the basics and asked who his dinner time partner was and what the purpose of their meeting. Apparently IL couldn't contain himself and blurted out that he had met the guy who would save our season nay, our souls and deliver us from those awful bullies be they in Warrington, St Helens or Catalan and beat the shoite out of them.
When asked when would this Svengali figure start and who he was IL almost stained his kecks in excitement.
You heard this here first..................

Once his "contract" is concluded he will leave the Thatto Heath U9's and join the WW staff from his bedroom and send texts, emails, Twitter shoite and just about any other media outlet that his mam will let him have access to so that he can just tell SW and his current under performers just how it is.
Mugwump joins us with the full backing of St Pete and the entire membership of his fan club ie himself.
I've just booked my Grand Final tickets and can't wait to watch Patrick (or Paddy as Mugwump will call him) and Mossop ( or LEEVIT as dear old Mugwump will chastisingly call him) tear a new one on every pack in the country.
There is a god and my prayers have been answered.

Itchy I must congratulate you on a great post, said with tongue in cheek but which probably contains more than a grain of truth.
On a more serious note you seem to be dafter than me, but with a more creative imagination.

I wouldn't worry. I don't think you'll see much of him on here for a while after tonight.

Life it too short to be a total smart booty like some soft lads seem wear as a badge of honour.
Yes I'm daft but I love my club and my town so I defend hopefully with humour but with pragmatism.
Losing happens.
Luck sometimes looks the other way. But no one is lucky for ever.
A passion, commitment and an acknoledgement that you get nowt for no effort comes from the heart and our lads need a re-education in the sheer basics of life and crack on.

I know what the next two weeks announcement will be which won't be good but our top guys IL. SW and KR need to stop feeling sorry for themselves and start to lead this club with some passion and stop being sorry about the Flower incident et al and get some mongrel back into the club.
On a more serious note what a fantastic result tonight!
If only we had that Mugwumps ruff tuff pack ............
Seriously how bad is SL?

Surely what is clear is:

a) Leeds are easily the best side in the comp

b) Saints really aren't all that, and haven't been all season. The much vaunted partnership of Walsh and Burns looks a damp squib; they both look crocked, maybe permanently

c) We're in no position to crow, cos we're currently well behind both.

All true enough.

I'd also add how average are Warrington! I was shocked how poor they were with the ball. That performance on Thursday was worse then Catalans away IMO yet they only managed to put 17 points on us. I shudder to think what Leeds would have put on us.

The beauty of the league is it won't take much to fix us up IMO.

Scruton is woeful, stay well well away. The French lad whose name escapes me could be worth a punt, but that is the point he would be a punt and we need quality not projects upfront.

Signing all these projects put us in the position we are in now with our pack.

Gadwin Springer would have been an ideal signing for us jonh. Castelford have got a future star signing him.

Wouldn't it be great to click this topic and see talk of a genuinely class player potentially signing for us. Sadly these days are long gone, kids or projects seem to be the only way forward for us. I know Sam is coming back, but that's different.

This isn't a dig at anyone posting on this thread, more a reflection of how little excitement there has been for a long time regarding the signing of great players (again, Sam aside).
