Wouldn't it be great to click this topic and see talk of a genuinely class player potentially signing for us. Sadly these days are long gone, kids or projects seem to be the only way forward for us. I know Sam is coming back, but that's different.

This isn't a dig at anyone posting on this thread, more a reflection of how little excitement there has been for a long time regarding the signing of great players (again, Sam aside).

Well I did advise of our new forwards coach and only this morning I believe that he insisting that mard lard also follows him to the club and that he is arranging to meet Fat Harry at Wigan bus station in the week as he has heard that he can add something extra when there are any scrums. He thinks that things are starting to smell better already.

All true enough.

I'd also add how average are Warrington!

Yes, that too, Nicky. For all the fools on Sky talked them up, they looked very ordinary. Still easily had enough to keep us quiet, though.

Defensively they were very good but in attack they weren't great. Tony Smith said as much in his post match interview. Still more than a match for us.

Defensively they had plenty of 'bite' in midfield, but their goal-line defence was hardly tested. How much time did we spend in their 20?

We should blame Sarginson for Wigan not being able to test their goal line defence, he failed to make the required 40/50 yards from our own twenty so that our much vaunted dreadnought pack could take over and roll on to the line.

You could forgive our pack for their feeble efforts at our end if they were blitzing teams down at theirs! Alas Mossop had to dive over from a yard and couldn't manage it.

It could well be tactical and if it is then Wanes a crazy man but either way our issues start and end with the props. They're making zero room for the rest of the team to work in and they're allowing the side to be bullied.

Last chance saloon for Mossop, Flower, Crosby and Patrick on Thursday IMO. If things don't pick up from last week I'd be looking at some debuts in the coming weeks and to build towards next year with some potential releases on the cards at the end of the year.

NK I couldn't agree more but who do you give debuts to?
The more I think about it the more I question KR role in our recruitment. Mossop was at best poor when he went and I for one couldn't see the logic in resigning him. Patrick, well I'm 58 and I could burst a tackle more often than he can. Resigning Bowen??????
Powell a 4 year contract??.
No recognised centres in the first 17? If anyone thinks that Gelling is centre they need help of the highest order.
No recognised goal kicker. This never gets mentioned but in the history of the game the top clubs have always have a top goal kicker.

If SW is complicit in the signings more fool him if he hadn't got the self respect to say no then if I'm honest that's worse.

I know we can't win the GF I know that at best we are average but for gods sake if SW or any other bugger from the club comes on this forum at least give us some pride back. Oh and pack Mossop off to Whitehaven no that's no fair on Whitehaven just pay the soft shoite off and let him pump some weights in a local gym and pose in the mirror at his physique.

IL will say jackshit at present because of the impending announcement. He needs to get a pair and publicly apologise for the total ineptness of the team.

I like the looks of young Bretherton but I believe he's currently injured and we've got Lever out on loan somewhere who shifts between prop and loose forward. I believe Brad Lawrence played well for the u19's yesterday although you'd have to think it may be a tad early to throw him in.

Hopefully Clubb will be back soon and as much as I don't think he's up to the standard we as a club should expect Tautai at least busts a gut. I'd be looking at him, Clubb and Sutton taking three prop spots and maybe another youngster coming in as fourth choice. Of course if one of the other props finally decides to out their hand up they could keep a place but I'll hold judgement until Thursday night.

The sad facts are that the not so awesome foursome of Flower, Mossop, Crosby and Patrick aren't producing anything a kid couldn't at the minute.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

Re: Rumours and signings v9 : Sun Jul 05, 2015 11:28 pm
Patrick - 2nd rower trying to play prop. Never understood the hype when he was at Hudds, poor recruitment decision.

Flower - looks a stone or two overweight. He still hits hard in the tackle, bizarrely seems to have lost his aggression with the ball in hand though :?

Crosby - more interested in pushing and shoving and mouthing off. I think he's got a good future ahead though.

Mossop - is he saving himself for the back end of the season? Or carrying an injury?

Sutton - not done too bad when he's played.

Tautai - although I've given this guy a lot of poop, I do feel he tries his heart out. He's being let down by the rest.

Clubb - the closest thing to a pack leader we've got!

The most annoying thing is - despite all the criticism - there is the potential there to be a very good set of props when they are all firing.
