What's the rumpus, Tom?

Him and that whopper Sgt Wilko are rubbing there hands at our (completely imagined / fabricated) phobia of Slammin Sam signing for them.

Comical at best. Cringworthy at worst

Wigan signing Sam Tomkins wasn't dependent on the marquee rule coming in but if the outside bet of him staying in superleague came off it would probably be with Leeds.

As we know their players play mainly for the love of the club but I'm sure they'd find enough hugs for Big Sam.

I'm sure I heard IL say that although he wasn't initially as a marquee player, it meant that Wigan's SC was tight, so they decided to make Samkins their marquee player to give them a bit of breathing room.

He said they may do if the rule came in and they probably have but nobody knows for sure.

Don't get me wrong, we've got no chance of signing Burgess but I don't see that Leeds prospects are that much greater (even with the marquee allowance unspent).

I reckon it's about a 50/50 chance between staying at Bath or going to Souths (maybe 49.9% each with Leeds/Wire having 0.1% each).

You guys really need to relax. Wigan are NOT going to sign Sam Burgess.

No one here is saying they will, and no one is expecting it.

We just want him back in RL.

He's not going to South anytime soon according to the mole, who reckons if anyone signs him then Leeds are favourites.

With Achurch (one of Leeds' top earners) soon to be leaving that will free up some extra cap space. Who knows, maybe the RFL will part fund his contract as they did with Tomkins.

Wherever he ends up, I don't think he'll be a union player next season. He wants to play in big games, and now the WC is done he'll be back to the reserves playing in front of nobody, on a wet and windy Wednesday night trying to learn a new position. It's hardly the glamourous career he no doubt envisaged when he made the switch.

Do you really believe what you write?

What are these comparable big games in SL that you are talking about? IF he stays in RU he'll have the six nations i.e games in Rome and Paris and big games vs Wales and Ireland. After that there's a summer tour to face Australia followed by Autumn Internationals, another six nations and then a Lions tour. He's also got what was the Heineken Cup with games across Europe.

Compared to what in SL? Wet Friday nights vs Wakey or the 'Magic Weekend'.

Weather you like RU or not that's roughly 20 international games with 70k attendances that will be screened across the globe. The RL at the weekend wasn't even on TV. SL can't simply match that

One big question here, though, is how many of these internationals will he play in?

It would be a brave England coach who selected Burgess after he 'cost them' the World Cup.

Has anyone whose opinion counts actually said that? Listening to some of the RU 'experts' and giving thier opinions air time is the equivalent of Schofield being classed as a reasoned RL pundit.

I'd argue that Burgess stands a very good chance of making the Lions tour. That for me is one of those massive sporting occasions that can sway a person's decision to stay or go.

He'll be nowhere near the England side for quite sometime. He can't even get in the Bath match day squad even with Jonathan Joseph being injured for 3 months.

There's about 6 or 7 centres in front of him, and then he's going to have to spend the next few years learning a new position in the pack to get anywhere near the England side, which also has about 10 back rowers in front of him.
