eamon doesnt need to bulk up any more, hes got a small centre of gravity and uses that to his full potential. he punches far above his weight and he will be one of our front line props in a few years. He has been our stand out player this year in all of our games, 100% commitment and pride is all we can ask for and that is what eamon produces.

Hi Eamon's dad.

No, I agree. Hopefully this injury isn't too bad.

Eamon has been arguably our most consistent forward this season. The lad has potential and shouldn't be shipped out just because he has a smaller than average frame. He has a great attitude, consistently makes decent yards per carry, makes few errors, misses very few tackles and gives away few penalties. Notwithstanding the Salford game, I'd have him every time over Coley.

All Eamon needs to develop is an offload and then he will be a very useful rotation prop for the next decade.

O'Carroll and Prescott are the future, along with Ben Davies, allow them to develop and Wigan may just have a strong and consistent front row for a long time.

And for a modern day SL prop forward that just wont do, sorry.

I don't get your problem with the size of O'Carroll tbh.

The questions i ask myself are-

Does he make good metres forward? Yes

Does he get dominated in the tackle? No

does he defend well? Yes

will he get better with age? without doubt yes

Does he play with 100% commitment? Yes

The fact that he's not the biggest seems to do him a favour if anything because it makes him work harder at his game and also defending teams struggle to dominate him because he's difficult to tackle with his low centre of gravity.

Rugby players aren't prototypes - if you get rid of O'Carroll because he does not fit the ideal stature of a prop, despite his obvious talents, then it won't be long until you get rid of Sam Tomkins or Shaun Ainscough for the same reason. The same rational (or lack of) could be applied to both - Sam is undersized for a stand off and Ainscough doesn't fit the profile of a modern winger due to his height. Thankfully some people can see past physical measurements and allow talented players to play in SL regardless of stature.

I remember Andy Platt being the prototype for the new prop.

Not true, look at Mc Guire/Burrow at Leeds, Long at Saints, Raynor at Hull, Fox at HKR, Pelo at Catalan, size is not as important as at prop, be honest, if O'Carroll played for another team would you want Wigan to go out and sign him................no, have you ever heard fans from another club say they wished they had him in their team........no, I honestly hope I'm proved wrong and he can go on to be a Wigan player in the future, but I cant see it. I think we'll have to agree to disagree

Prescotts a far better prop in the current set up.

If we had the 3 props of 5 years ago O'Connor/Pongia/Smith You could utilize O'Carroll better but given within the current set up he HAS to do what is expected of a Front Line Experienced Prop then Prescott is far more suited.

If he's prepared to stay here as a 4th 5th choice prop then no problem.

If we are going to be challenging for Top Honours then I'm afraid we won't be doing it with O'Carroll as one of our frontline 2 props.

As for being our Most consistant Forward this year!!!!!!!!
