Mason Caton-Brown linked with Wigan

Been gaining momentum. Might seem odd to many given how far down the pecking order at Salford he is but his potential and versatility is valued by those at Wigan apparently. Will likely replace Sarginson.

The Gubb write up on here does make him seem like a perfect fit for Waney and Wigan.
I wonder which prop will be leaving then?

As for Mason Caton Brown, can't remeber the last time I saw him play.
As for replacing Sarge, I doubt it.
Gildart has done the centre job very well thus far 2016. Why wouldn't he be a normal slot in to the 4 shirt next year?
That's unless MCB is just seen as a reserve squad player.
As for the left wing position, I'd prefer Denny Solomona thank you very much!

Mason Caton-Brown would probably be viewed as a backup useful squad player who can play a lot of positions in the backs and has pace. He wouldnt replace Gildart.

Caton Brown would be ideal back up IMO. We've got Gildart to take a centre spot and we'll hopefully get a new winger but we're still short of somebody to offer some cover and I feel he could do that.

Agree on Caton Brown. He would be a very useful squad player with decent potential and wouldn't cost the earth which is most important in the salary cap era

Re Gubb, I think it's fair to bear in mind when talking about NRL players, that when you watch them perform, they are generally (I wouldn't say always) playing against better and tougher opposition than you get in the average SL game. The Broncos, for example, they certainly had a off day against the NZW, but on paper you could fairly say they are the second best side on the planet.

Anyway, I like him. And their other squad prop, Sam Lisone, isn't bad either.

It mentioned in the article that he's 26 and only made his debut in 2013 so hopefully a late bloomer a la Carmont. Could be a good overseas signing for once.

If our recruitment consisted of Caton-Brown, Tommy Leuleui, Gubb and a top class winger I would be more than happy with the squad for 2017.

Yes, he is. I hope we took an interest. Is he a local Wire lad? If he is, not surprising they'd get first dibs. He has been consistently good in a pretty ordinary side.
